I went earlier to see it, armed with all the good advice from those who replied to my earlier thread.

The machine looked gently used/well cared for. But the very encouraging sign was when I drove up to the guy's house, there was a Miele van parked in front.

Turned out that he is a Miele technician who just upgraded to the GIANT Miele's (said it took 4 guys to move them in). I may have paid too much($500)BUT...it was in such nice looking shape and he said he would deliver it to me as well.

Thanks to all for sharing information on what to look out for.

CONGRADULATIONS!! MIELE W1918 IS A TRULY CLASSIC PIECE OF MACHINERY & TRULY EUROPEAN. WATER PLUS,GENTLE ACTION BUTTON,1600RPM SPIN SPEED,HYDROMATIC WASHING ACTION,&ADJUSTABLE OPTIONS YOU COULDENT ASK FOR MORE . This is one of my faverite washers and dream machines, i had a oppertunity to get a mint one from my miele rep at my job i work in applencses but left the job before i could get it, do to rascist& homophobic situations on the job site.To be honest it hurt me more not get the machine then leaveing the JOB! But anyway hope that you have a great time with it,Qwestion-- miele had two W 1918's first&secound generation models one was temprature wise,170 fht & 190 fht which one do you have? The 1918 is a nice machine

I like the 1918, even though the one in my shop is one of those that "only" goes to 170F. It's very frugal with water but still cleans and rinses exceptionally well.
