We had that style agitator minus the vertical ridges in our 1957 Whirlpool BOL automatic. I've been looking for that myself. Try any and all used appliance stores and bring a picture. If you're lucky, you'll find a store that's been around for many decades and you'll find some nice old codger(as I did) who is a packrat and has zillions of parts in the basement. Good Luck!

also try in appliance repair shops do not forget that alot of pepole still might have the machines with this type of agitator so appliance repair shops might still have the part.

I know of a shop in Edmonton, Alberta that has about 4 or 5 of this style agitator made for Inglis/ Whirlpool wringers. He doesn't ship though.

I like that style of agitator too for the wringer. Next time I make a trip to Edmonton, I will pick up a couple of them. Hope he's still in business.

Oh..... That's Easy!!!!!

THAT Agitator, is usually found on either a BOL or a Lower Line Kenmore. I know....... There was one in our 1967 24" BOL Kenmore when I was growing up...... Only our had the dark blue or black wash basket.

White, the new Black

bajaespuma's profile picture
Actually, it's interesting that this specific topic has come up. With all of the old appliance places I've been haunting lately, black plastic or bakelite agitators are very rare. Everything is white plastic with an occasional blue or turquoise here and there.

The new plastics are cheaper and less likely to break, either if dropped or if something falls onto them or into the machine than Bakelite. Bakelite was revolutionary when it came out in the early part of the 20th Century. It replaced metal agitators and proved durable until it was hit or dropped at just the right angle, especially when hot which is why it quickly fell out of favor for use in "silverware" baskets in dishwashers.

That agitator is a Kenmore wringer washer agitator, I'm pretty sure (but not positive) that it will not fit properly into a Kenmore automatic. The automatic washer straight vane agitator was a slightly different height and shape.

On Craigslist in Seattle, has that very agitator. Robert's right, it will not fit into an automatic.
