Hmmm, this looks interesting, but even as a portable won't fit in our tiny kitchen.

Interesting. Thank you for posting. Too bad there is no money shot. I'd have loved to see the interior.

Access to ebay is blocked where I work. A frustrating situation when cruising this site! Is this Electra like the beautiful coppertone one that nobody here seemed to want a couple of months back?

Here is the photo from the auction - if I remember right, the Electra was the TOL of the top loaders. This could be either a 14 or later series machine. So either the early cast iron spray arm (14 series), or the revised 4 spray arm system for this machine. Would be a beautiful addition to anyone's collection.

Thanks for posting the pic. That is a very nice machine. I hope it finds a good home.

Vintage KitchenAid Electra

Hi.
I believe the Electra Portable was equal to the "Custom" Under the Counter. I'm pretty sure it only had 1 cycle. I do remember a KitchenAid toploader "Superba". I'm quite sure it had 3 cycles. Full Cycle,Utilities/Utensils,and I think China Crystal. This is from what I can remember from back around mid 1960's as Mom's Friend had a Electra.

I wrote to the seller. The racks do not show signs of rust. The wash arm is the 4 way Hydrosweep and the control panel is just a dial on top. Of course, we do not know the condition of the control panel or the inside of the machine. Since the tank is porcelain, I would guess that the stuff that looks like rust is just dirt. I am grateful for the answers to my questions. I would have gone to Scranton if it had the big blue wash arm, because this would have been the model that combined the old pump with the detergent cup and the cycle with the prewash. They are pretty rare. On the other hand, the machines like this with the front half of the upper rack that lifts with the lid do not have the loading flexibility & capacity of the KD2P, nor do they have the double wall tank.

She has posted them on the auction.

The interior shots are on the auction. The interior looks pretty good. Some bending in the lower rack but that can usually be easily fixed.

If she says she doesn't know if it works either she has tried it and it doesn't work or she doesn't know how to hook it to the sink. I can't imagine buying a house with any appliance and not checking it out to see if it works.
