I have a question for you repair guys out there. I'm pretty certain that I will have to either rebuild or replace the transmission in my V-16 filter-flo. Does anyone know where to find a 15 1/2" transmission or maybe manuals on how to rebuild them? The only other obvious thing to do would be to find a donor machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Jon | ||

Take it from me, they are hard to rebuild. I tried it myself on my '51 GE's tranny only to have hours of work wasted as the new seal failed to keep the tranny oil inside and it all peed out gradually. You can still get the 15 1/2 " rebuilt ones, I just bought a rebuilt short shaft one last year from GE Canada. Eddy | ||

I never thought about trying Canadian GE for a rebuilt tranny. I'm not really sure what happened to the old transmission in mine, but there is alot of play on the agitator post up and down...not side to side. Also in a couple of test runs with the machine the transmission jammed. I'm guessing the machine was used alot for starters and maybe sitting dormant for so long caused some wear on the metal parts. I'd much rather find a rebuilt tranny and just replace it so it's nice and solid. Thanks for the heads up! Jon | ||

LOL...don't tell me that! Now I'm really scared to pull mine apart! I just hope there's a way to get the clutch from sticking on the higher speeds and get the slow speed working again. I would be so happy. No worries on the transmissions though...there are PLENTY of machines out there that can be parted out. Please do post pics of the clutch. I want to know what you're doing with it! Thanks! Jon | ||
