Well everybody, Thanksgiving Day is come and gone and you know what that means. Yes, it is Black Friday. Time to shop for Christmas, especially washers, dryers, & dishwashers. You should looks in your store papers from yesterday and today to see what's avalible. I've looked in the Searsbook and the cheapest washer they have is a $200.00 Kenmore Direct-Drive Top-Load washer. The most expensive one they list is the Kenmore HE5t Steam(A.K.A. Whirlpool Duet Steam) at $1355.99 or something like that. So every one, it's time to shop for washers, dryers, and dishwashers. Post detials about what you buy/are planning to buy in this thread.

Miele Studio

I will be in South Florida for the Christmas Holiday and plan to visit the Miele design studio in Boca Raton for a look at the 4840 washer in action. If all goes as planned, the 4840 will replace the Harmony set in January.

But I like the Harmony set. What is wrong with it?

The local appliance dealer that runs full and often 2-page ads in the paper has the Maytag Epic Z washer for $499. The pair is $999. They look like GE's but the price is sure right for the capacity.

Harmony Set

I really like the Harmony set, but miss having a front loader. I usually only keep a set a maximum of 2 years. Then I upgrade to current technology. Wish I had a basement. It would be full of machines by now.

Bosch Nexxt...

Were these machines reliable?
I at least canīt imagine they were.

Reliable

Yes. Mechanically, they were excellent machines. However they have their flaws. The washer has a design problem in the tub where the archie paddles join the tub at the back. There is a pinch point that likes to grab threads and pull them. I have several shirts and towels that are frayed around the edges thanks to the Nexxt.

So why do you want to go back to Front-Loaders if one destroyed your clothes?

One FL

mrb627's profile picture
Only one FL I have own has ever destroyed anything. That was the Bosch. The Frigidaire FL didn't. The Whirlpool duetHT didn't. Only the Bosch. I am looking for a front loader that doesn't have plastic paddles but ones that are part of the basket. The Miele and Speed Queen are the only two that fit that bill.
