Would that be a matching washer for my DE-500 dryer? Or is it a bit later (can't figure out those Maytag model numbers).

This would be a good match for your dryer, the washer is a couple of years newer, but the styling is still the same. The '02 in the model number denoted a few changes in features - most notably the lint-filter/dispenser combo in the agitator and the addition of a Soak cycle on the timer dial.

Thanks, Greg.

I notice that the color strip under the controls is an odd color on my dryer. Sort of a greenish gold. The one on this washer is more the blue of later models. Did the washers that matched the DE-500 have greenish gold color strips too? Of is the color strip on my dryer altered in some way from what it was originally?

You could paint the dryer panel color to match the washer and make it a DE502!
