Just wanted to post an update. I have had my Maytag Neptune washer and dryer for about 5 months. I have never been so pleased with any new product. I have been laudering Thanksgiving linens and am just amazed at how well it removes the stains. It has also proved far superior for getting the white socks and gym clothes clean. It is so quiet and NO more off balance loads! I almost wish I could buy a spare one and put it back for the future! I am using Tide He and good old clorox. I am the third in my family that have the Neptunes and I bought on their recomendations and how much they loved their machines. I hope we have a long relationship as my last Maytag 806 pair are still going after 33 years.

Amazing Neptunes

My washer is model is 6500 and the dryer is model 5500. I am very grateful I found this automaticwasher site and was able to get them before Maytag quit building the Neptunes. My family has much older Neptunes with different back panels but the same interiors and wash tubs.

Could you post pictures of the Neptunes?

The 6500 is a good model Neptune. It has the internal heater and is very similar to the 7500 - the main difference is the 7500 has the LCD control panel, while the 6500 has the LED panel. Both have solid doors. I have the 7500, and once it went through a spate of repairs, it's been a real champ.

I also have the 7500 gas dryer, and it works well also.
