What's with the brown agitator? How old are these?

1972 vintage
The gold agitators were standard in most models in the early 70's

Rich, this is the washer my best friend form highschool's mom bought to replace her 1960 Alphabet Kenmore. She bought it late 1973 or early 1974. It's the Super Rotoswirl like in my parents' 1970 Kenmore 800. This is also the exact same pair that was first put in the house next door to our lake house, the neighboring house built in 1974. A cool, quiet set. Notice the fabric softner/bleach dispensers on the left are gone.

My mom bought one of these in white in 1974. And I believe there is a console light - not a fluorescent strip, but a small, incandescent bulb right over the timer.

yes, the console light is exactly as deecribed. A very quiet washer.

My aunt had one of these and it was very quiet compared to the others.
