Ok- I could use some help. I have a 70 series, direct drive Kenmore Washer that suddenly stopped working the other day. It will fill with water, drain and spin, but will not agitate.

any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Take care

I would say the coupler is broken, but then it wouldn't spin, just fill and drain..hummmmm.

One of 3 things can happen with a broken coupler:
Agitation, no spin, drain
No agitation, spin, drain
No agitation, no spin, drain

It all depends on how the coupler is broken.

Start there, it is an easy repair.

Post in the Deluxe forum for modern washers.

sounds like motor or timer to me

Sounds to me like the motor is not turning in the direction of agitate. It reverses and goes the other way for pumping out and spinning.

My crystal ball (psychic appliance repair) says motor. I've also seen quite a few of those burn off one wire just at the motor wiring harness connector.

I doubt very seriously it's the coupler.

another wild guess

I'm guessing this is posted in the wrong forum, unless your machine was built before 1985.
