HI, I collect wringer washers so I thought is may have been a Thor? Since the story or movie takes place in Ohio, I beleive, maybe it could be an Apex too? The washer was probably made in the 30's because of the green color. Have a happy New Year. Gary

Happy New Year. I believe the Thor washing machine company started out as the Hurley machine company from Chicago. At one time, the adgitator looked like fingers from a person's hand. I wonder what the washing action would have been like in those machines? Thor, in my estimation, was not a very good machine. They used fiber gears in some of their machines( I don't know the exact years for that) but that was not very successful. We lived on the farm in the 50's and we had one from the 30's. My mom was not very much impressed by it as i remember.
I don't know a lot about the Apex Co. but maybe more information could be found out online? I am interested in this now too and would love to make a trip to the house. I live in Illinois so Ohio isn't that far really. Have fun. Gary

well if you go.....

...take me hahaha. maybe someday Ill get there. Its amazing what that guy has started.

Heres an early day memory of mine. Sears came and got my moms kenmore automatic (copperbrown) and brought a wringer washer for her use in its place.

I talked my older and wiser brother into running his fingers through the wringer to see if it would flaten them.

Now that Im older I cant believe it didnt crush his precious little bones but he sure bawled a lot
over the years when ever he starts acting a lil smarter than me all I have to do to give him the flat motion action and he shuts right up hahaha. not his crowning moment but a life time of protection for me.

I wonder if the guys at the website would mind us asking about the washer. feel fre to post me individually too
