Any thoughts on the Kitchenaid KUDI22 dishwasher? It says "Quiet Scrub", "Automatic water heating" on the control panel.

Is it a Hobart model, or a Whirlpool? Desirable? Or Not? Year?

Thanks in advance!

It's a Whirlpool, similar to your ISE, early 1990s. This was the next-to-the-last of the Hobart-styled KAs. My friends here have the same thing (it's being replaced due to very bad door hinge accidentally broken). I should have looked yesterday when I was at their house to see if it was a 22 or a 23. It's very quiet, pretty much all I hear is water swishing. Sounds like an acquariam pump.

This doesn't have the rapid-advance timer either. Buttons on the right side and timer knob on the left side of the control panel.

Thanks, Bob.

It sounds like an OK machine, but since I already have the ISE and I have a nagging head cold, I'm going to pass on this one, even though it's *FREE*, LOL.

I had a KUDS22, bought December 1992, now living with my sister. Only thing missing that I wish it had is the top-level Constant Rinse sprayer.

Can I save the day and maybe another Kitchenaid?

Appnut,
Don't let them toss their machine just becasue a hinge is broken.. I have a bunch of them if they want to repair the machine. It is only a few screws!and you can probaoly leave the door on the machine to do it. I know I have done that many times!
Just let me know.
Steve

Dream machine!

Dadoes, I would love to find a Superba 22 again. I left one back at the house in Valley Stream for the new owner. It was just rebuilt and put into our new kitchen and did a great job on everything. I love the awater heating system on those units.

We actually took our KDS18 and KDC21D with us from there to the new house in FLorida and tossed out the Ge unit it came with about a week after the moving van got here. My wife hated the GE and it's lack of comparable capacity to the KA's!

If you want, I have a KDS18 with the top sprayer available. You can just transfer all the parts from the 22 to that tank and get yourself one with the top sprayer! You just have to come and get it!

Rich, the free machine sounds very similar to the one that's been washing away in my kitchen for the last 17 years. It's probably got a lot of similarities to the ISE you picked up so it's a matter of appearances more than anything. If you like the way the ISE looks, don't beat yourself up over not going after the KA. They are basically the same machine. I think KA's tend to find new homes more often than other makes and I'm sure this one will.

I've got a KDS23. Although it's Whirlpool made, it's the still the Hobart design and it's a very excellent dishwasher. Extremely quiet, too.

Ralph,

If it was a Superba model ("KUDS"?) I might be tempted. Otherwise, I need to keep the appliance "collection" under control.

The model I'd like to find is a TOL KA Superba in good or better condition with metal blower (heating element in blower) and water heating element in sump. I'm not overly fond of the single big heating element which does double duty as a water heater and a heated dry heater - mainly because it seems like these tend to melt plastic more readily on the lower rack than the heated blower type.
