My grandparents had a DW like that. Only theres one BOL with one timer knob. The big cylinder thing on the bottom is kinda like the Frigidaire spin tube. It throws water all around to clean the dishes.
My only exp with running that dw was that I had to manually move the timer every two minutes to make it work.
It's a unique machine but I don't think it performed well.

...ok, this I had some experience with. Picture it, St. Louis, 1970 -- family moves into big huge two-storey equipped with a Tappan beast of a dishwasher. I remember Dad working on it constantly, and Mom exploding in profanity when having to use it. It sucked!
the wash impeller wasn't quite like the Frigidaire spin tube in that it didn't spray thru it,but the Tappan impeller was just a large motor-driven drum that threw water at the dishes like a high-speed tire throws a water puddle, and this machine stored a 60 day supply of SUDSING liquid detergent in the door.
