For 18 and a half years I thought I was all alone in my obsession and fascination with washing machines! I've been through all the see it wash videos, seen all the restoration processes, been through all the photos of collections (robert aka unimatic next time i'm down in the twin cities from duluth can i please please please come to your basement??), seen all the "fun stuff" ; looked at the "cyber museum" (we need to get more stuff in there!) and am hoping to become a regular thread poster around here!

Welcome! I love it here, too! It's too bad Yahoo changed their photo download/upload capability...now we can't view everyone's awesome photo collections on this site...

Hey Jed

I'm one of the newer members here, too. I've had a fetish for washing machines since I was 4 years old, and 3 years ago, quite by accident, I stumbled onto this group. I was 60 at the time. It's been wonderful. Some really great people in this group -- and hard workers, too. It has amazed me that these guys can take a piece of rusted junk, wave their magic wand, and come up with a brand new looking machine that works perfectly even though it's 60+ years old.

By all means make every effort to go to a wash-in. It will blow your mind.

And one of the good parts about being older is that I have actually used some of these old machines that most members have only seen pictures of -- for example, the rubber tub Bendix that squeezed the water out of the clothes instead of spinning, and the first Bendix Duomatics.

Welcome to the group and keep in touch. It's fun.

Jerry Gay
