Hi Paul!

That supermatic may be any model. The lids and dials are from late models eg 9414. The control fascia is early as its aluminium but im betting its a 9404 with a replacement fascia as the cabinet looks extremely white like the later models are. Also the edging round the top of the cabinet looks brown like the late models not chrome like the early ones. I bet the original fascia was really worn as the later models always seem to have that problem. When you wipe it down you slowly wear away the markings. You don't seem to get so much with the earlier aluminium fascias.
Would be interesting to know what model number is after the "supermatic" on the fascia. Also would be interesting to see the back panel to see what its like and if its a thin sheet metal one or the better early painted white one.

I could be completely wrong though and its and early model with replacement dials and lids.

Hi guys

Just to let you know, I have asked a few questions about the A3058 and am awaiting the response.

I may go for this but space is a bit tight now! Please let me know if anyone really wants this and I won't bid against them.

Hi Rob

Me and Rob are toying with the idea of acquiring it. The only major problem we have is how to pick it up - distances and all!

Can we maybe discuss later on? If OK can we give you a call?

Let me/us know.

Hi there Paul

No problem at all. I've got the Electron and this machine's programming will be the same.

I got a reply and they live in E1 (Central East end I believe). The machine is in a basement but the owner did say he can't help bringing it up the 5 steps. You would therefore need 2 people.

I would love to hear from you on the phone, just to have a chit chat would be nice. Just let me know when as my mobile is off a lot.

Rob

Hello there i was agonising over the D6074 dryer on ebay, i went into to work today and there sitting in the skip was.......yup a D6074.

so in my mind i am thinking oh christ i have to get rid of the Hotpoint toploader :-(.....but as i walked towards it i saw rust.....then i opened the door and the drum was halfway down inside, i eventually stripped it to find the main bearing missing and no motor so all i could do was remove the control panel and door rubber.....in a way i am relieved that i do not have to get rid of the Hotpoint time line.
Here is a pic of the control panel

PAUL

I am really pleased you are going for the Hoover A3058 such a lovely machine, i think the distance wont matter once you have gotten it, i drove 600 miles round trip to collect my A3308 i dont regret it at all
So good luck to you

In my hast i called this a jetsystem model, this is one of the "traditional" models as they called them, ideally i'd like one of these, i'd settle for something slightly newer though.

If anyone can help me in my quest to find one of these style models it would be greatfully appreciated, im scaling ebay and local ad papers and such.

Heres a pic of my washer/dryer which is of the same range but isnt one of the "redesigned" models.

re that bloomin' A3058!

after many hours of deliberation, me and Rob have decided against bidding on the A3058.
Collecting the machine would prove just complicated and I am only just getting my head around collecting the A3350 from Newcastle.
the thought of trying to fight my way through London, plus the long journey involved, is too much for me to get a grasp on.

i soooo hope it goes to a good home - the bloke who has placed a bid seems to be a collector of vintage stuff (anyone going to own up on here?) and purchased a Matchbox advert a while back. So there is definately hope for the A3058 yet.

anyways, i thought you should all know in case anyone was holding off bidding because we had showed an interest.

Go for it guys!
fingers crossed in case any of you take the plunge.
good luck!
Paul
p.s cheers to RobM for the information and advice - much appreciated by both of us.

My dearest Paul, we have one of those exact Candy models so close to home, got me thinking about storage again. I think the one we saw on saturday would make a great addition to our collection. Sure to be cheaper than 50 quid eh? Is that an ecologic washer dryer? Notice it has 2 selector cogs. How odd they have the dryer too. R

Ecologic 1300

Without a doubt the left hand preselector control is for delay time not drying time. This was the the all singing, all dancing, TOL model (bar computer control) and would probably have cost in excess of £500 new. Can't imagine many spending that sort of money nowadays...unless you join the Miele brigade!

It's almost tempting to bid - not far from me, efficient washer, fast spin...knocks spots of the Woe-line...if only the landlords didn't live next door I could have it in no questions asked. I suppose I could say it's my Mum's and she's donated it due to a move - partly true...then on that logic I could try nabbing her H/P WM12 when she does...

Oh, the trials of being a tenant! Don't really think a bedroom laundry collection is a starter though...hey-ho.

Here's to all you collectors out there!

Al

That servis 213 above - it would be mine if it were closer.

Thought i would do a trawl for dishwashers this evening and it turned up a very nice looking heritage machine.

Not a classic but nevertheless very vintage...

I must say Im very proud, pleased and grateful to Paul who being the kind considerate and caring guy he is not to mention a fantastic boyfriend/partner whom I think the world of - got very stressed at the organisation and run up to the task of collecting our very first collection machine from Newcastle last week. All went well on the day of pick up but never again would I want him to drive so far for anything. Well unless it was purple then thats different LOL! I know Paul did it just as much if not more for himself though and I like to think of it that way aswell it certainly paid off with a fantastically immaculate machine. As for your journey 600 miles? Wow! I would never have that kind of patience I think. Rob

Driving

Hello Rob

I am glad you got that lovely Electron, well worth the drive.
the journey for me to Bolton from down here was a necessity, i dont relish driving long distances, i find them boring as hell, but driving is very much a part of life living down here, fortunately we are well connected with the rest of country via roads.
I did even consider driving up to Marks to collect the dryer but it would have been a two day event....plus having it collected by a courier was cheaper than i could have done it in terms of fuel ect.

Hi all

Rob and Paul congratulations on getting the Electron, it will be something to remember. It's always a fag getting these things but well worth it.

I am considering the 9504 as it is so close to me (Haywards Heath) but if anyone else wants it please let me know and I won't bid for it.

Wow my mothers first front loader the almond Hotpoint. The dishwasher looks like our first one too, although it had 2 dials, circa 1988.

Cheers Rob and Gary...

How do guys.
the drive was daunting to begin with, but I can safely say i really quite enjoyed it. Cold frosty morning, watching the sun rise, no rain, quiet roads all the way and a really atmospheric fog in the north east. took about 6 hours all in.

we are intending to plug in the machine tonight and see what is what. i/we will report back towards the end of the weekend.

that 9404 is immaculate Rob. That is the first thing i noticed when i came accross it. As far as me and my Rob are concerned, you should go for it! Good luck from us.

cheers
Paul

We had the later version of the Super Plus dishwasher. It is the reason i'm getting a Bosch dishwasher on tuesday!

Always used "Super Wash" on it. Had to click it on past 2 on the dial because the pre wash finished exactly on the 2. Ah the memories!

We had the Electra dryer before we bought the Zanussi we have the now. Its a good wee dryer. Only from about 1995 although the design of the machine is probably from 1975 hehe.

Cost

robm's profile picture
I was thinking about how much these machines cost. Does anyone know how much £100 was in 1971 and what it would equate to now? My partner was saying that he rented a room in Earls Court for £5 a week then and that seemed a lot. So £100 must have been around £800 in today's money I'm guessing??

a very tidy looking 9320 reversomatic dryer plus - the first generation of the rehashed 'new generation', if that makes any sense!
This dryer will be 1987.
