I am posting a copy of an e-mail I received, from an unknown sender.

What a great guy!

Hi. I am not a member of the forum that you belong to, AW.org. I see that you are from LI.

Would you by any chance know anyone who would be interested in a Bosch DW, model SHE 44CO8UC/46 and a Maytag FL washer model MAH2400? Both are in perfect shape. The DW is not even 1 years old and the washer is about 2.5 years old. The DW I just bought a new bottom rack, the premium rack with moveable silverware basket and fold down tines. I have way too many appliances in my house, my wife is getting tired of it all. Plus we are hoping to be putting our house up for sale within a year. I need to clear as much as I can out now. I would ask $25 each

So if you know anyone or if you are interested, let me know and I will give you my phone number. I live in Elmont, Long Island.

If you like, you can mention this in the forum you belong to. I would do it myself, but I don't think it would be proper of me to join the forum just for this purpose. It's more than okay to give my e-mail address if you know someone who might be interested. If you do know someone that may be interested, have them put "appliances" in the subject line in the e-mail. (This is my son's e-mail address).

Thanks. Hope to hear from you soon!

The E-Mail address to contact for these items is:

Wow... I could certianly use a washing machine, since my new place won't have one. Togs, lets take a trip to elmont some time this week. I've got the little station wagon, and access to a big nasty truck should the need arise.

Stay tuned for further details!

This is the KA by WP. One of the earliest tall-tubs.

It's me! The other log-in won't work at home.........

So good riddance to bad rubbish.

Upper rack contents had lots of sticky gritty yibble and bits.

Was getting worse over time.
Too bad. SS tub, loads and racks well, large interior. (Gets misty).

Breathe easy! The machine was denuded and the parts will go to Craig's list and or to Flea-pay.

So "in" with the MOL GE a la plastique. I started with BOL and moved up to the least expensive one that would do.

Lower rack

Racks. Not thrilled with the silverware rack which resides in the middle (left to right) but near the loading door (front).

There is also a circular cut-out for a pop up tower. (EW).

(See I cleaned the fridge door....LOL).

Adding a black shawl over a classic whte dress.

Here she is, half in, with the KA's insulation added over the white insualtion the GE itself came with.

Interestingly the GE's insualtion was not fiberglass or plastic-encased fiberglass. It looked like a woven cotton blend, if you will.

In the above pic, the back wall of the machine is seen against the floor.

One can see the cut-out for the rear their "trition" filter, which this model does not have.

Here is the opening, into which she now resides.

Thou shalt NOT criticize the filth, the muck and the joys of the tattered old house. I am beyond the point of spending to fix on a house that will be sold imminently. (Hopefully). if only you knew what I had to do to GET a full-sized machine into this kitchen....

The lower wash arm mechanism now includes a self-cleaning filter that is situated on a 45* angle. So far so good.

I liked the deep upper rack that has no cut-out or tower. It fits pots and pans. The bottom rack no to much.

NORMAL wash is:

W-R-W-R-R-Dry.

The normal wash includes a 50 (FIFTY) minute wash! That includes a 30 dry.

Steve,
Many congrats on your new dishwasher. For a minute I thought you moved the one from downstairs upstairs until I looked closely. You have to let me know how the cleaning and filtering system works. It looks to be a new type of device. Yes it's not as roomy as the KA but if you know how to pack it you will do very well. I wish they would have added cycle indicator lights but they seem to be nill today.
Best Wishes
Peter

Remeber, any machine bought will be left behind.

Did you hear Nikos had a hard time leaving Greece for America? Oh yes. He didn't want to leave his little brothers behind.

Thank you. I too wish it had "progress' indicator lights (Wash-Rinse -Dry-Heating).

It was recommended to me to buy a Maytag tall-tub. But the Amana branded BOL-ish one did not have a "rinse ony" cycle/programme (electronic "timer" obviously) WTH?

A GE TT was out of my price range.
A WP power-clean module (non-TT) machine would have been nice, but I have already experienced one in my past. Not so fond of their shallow upper rack.
Frigidaire you say? FEH. No great desire.

Nice looking GE Steve I like the new wash arm design. I have one request though. Since we are having to redo our kitchen cabinets and countertop could you past a better picture of your countertop. Do you remember the name/brand? I really like that color you have in your house. Hope you are able to sell you house soon.

Post# 266709 , Reply# 48   2/26/2008 at 09:44 (5,875 days old) by toggleswitch1 ()

Will do. The upstairs and the downstairs countertops (workbenches) are somewhat different but basic, boring plastic-lamiate jobbies.

The basement one (shown in panel #26606) is an interpretation of natural stone (granite?) with black, white, gray and salmon/peachy colored specs in it.

The other one (upstairs) is more beigy blue-gray, even slightly purplish also speckled.

Both were off-the shelf standard-issue Homo-Depot items.
This bit of sarcasm is aimed at ME: (Queue the song "Hey big spender! *LOL*).

Post# 266721 , Reply# 49   2/26/2008 at 12:13 (5,875 days old) by westie2 ()

Thanks for the information. Had thought we might go with natural stone but our area is 35 years old and with new subdivisions popping up all over here they have the granite or silstone just don't think it would worth our money spent on resale. Wilsonart has a laminate out that almost looks like natural stone but I sure do like your colors ove what we have seen. Have almond now and it shows everything. Cabinets will be honey oak and we want the oak trim around the edges of the countertop.

Congratulations on the new GE and thank you for the pictures. Would love to play with it. The racks are very different from those of European machines, especially the bottom racks. The tines look further apart. I noticed that a lot of plates in the US are thicker than the ones used in Europe. Interesting differences.

Yes, actually I love the Bosch conceptually and would really like it, but there are not enough rows of tines (not the distance apart)in the racks to give me the loading flexibility I prefer.

To me that cabinet is full.

These are my Corelle by Corning. They are much thinner than most plates found in the USA.

It's service for 12. (I hate mis-matched dishes, and I hate pulling out one or two dirty items from the DW to wash them and use them because there are not enough clean plates available).

I don't actually have good dishes or China; and that is perfectly fine, because this house doesn't fit a china cabinet. *LOL*

Not an aful match to the dhades on the countertop.

Here is the kitchen floor (main level kitchen). I was so fed up with scrubbing the old beige scratched and gouged one that came with the house, that I threw this one down "temporarily" 4/5 years ago. Strangely, it presents much better than I thought it would. Its a standard 12" square (30cm2)no -wax vinyl self-stick floor. It is designed to loook like four 6" square tiles. What I like about it is that the seams are not so obvious.

Of course I was gonna do ceramic and put it under the cabinets. But you reach a certain point in life, and say "It's not my job to fix everyone else's dirt and mistakes and laziness" but end up doing it anyway!

Sounds like your kitchen will be a dream!

wow, fascinating new GE filter design.
GE's pretty creative in being able to keep the same damn pump design all these decades and be able to adapt better and better filter systems to them.
I think this powered filter will be better than those random rear mounted filters.
Funny angle though. Whatever works i guess.

Tell us how it washes.

I was hoping not to steal his thunder, and was allowing him time to post his own catches...

The Bosch DW was adopted and has gone go to a good home.
MisterEric has his eye on a nice top-loader from Mike, and we will attemt to retrieve it in the very near future.
(Space on the truck was limited).
Thank you for asking!

I've not kept up on my postings! I didn't get the dishwasher out of the truck until last night, and then had to run to the airport to pick up dad. He's finally home from Iraq, so we were all catching up.

I really thought I wasn't going to make it out to Long Island in time, what with the traffic and all. Luckily I was out there before too long, and got a quick tour or casa toggles before we headed over to Mikes. We retrieved the Bosch and the Maytag, and Mike offered me a nice Speed Queen. We thought about taking it along as well, but I wasn't sure 3 machines were going to fit in the truck (its got a cap) and we decided not to take a chance.

On the way back to tog's, we decided that he'd play with the Maytag for a bit, and if I needed it, I could come retrieve it once I had the house.

We got back to tog's he put together an awesome home cooked meal. I got the chance to talk to a certain maytag fan from CT on the phone, and we had a mini wash-in, playing with the mini-basket in his filter-flow(had seen one but never saw it actually used in a machine) and we dragged the little Maytag down to the basement and got it set up.

I had to head back to Staten Island, and I didn't get in until late. I had a great time, and Toggles is a wonderful host! I even left with other parting gifts for the new house.

My closing date was pushed back past March 11, giving me a little more time to play with. Until then, the Bosch is out in the garage at the 'rents house. I'll try and get a picture or a model number, but i'm not going to try it out, with the 19 degree weather and such.

So what's up, Mistereric, with the propane and the compressed air?

Is that what it takes these days to get a DW that actually cleans well and works?

Actually, is it supposed to have insulation?

Well, I tried keeping my space heater and air compressor in the living room, but the management frowns on such activities.

As far as I can recall, the Bosch machines I've installed don't have any more insulation than this puppy. There is a "shell" of some sort attached to the tub.

Yes the gummy mastic is used to prevent vibrations, reverberations, resonation and echoes on (stainless-steel) metal. This is also typically found under a stainless-steel sink!

The little washer that could.

The Maytag badged Samsung has some good features.

It seems to stir-up foam/suds less than other front-loaders I have used lately.
The cylinder tumbles during fill. I love that. Ensures the established water level (albeit it a bit low)rther quickly.
Small tumbler vanes. Leaves more room for clothing!
Have not yet counted number of rinses, but I beleive it's a greater number than my FridGeMore. Items do appear to be well rinsed based on no foam left on door. (Just look deeper into this!)
Controls are well-laid out and intuitieve, yet instuciton mmanual does not spell-out number of water fills and general operation of wash cycle/programme. (Well to the degree I'd like. *LOL*)

My understanding is that a well-runningn small motor makes a B-flat pitched sound. This motor makes a kind of whining sound. What note it is I could not tell you.....but here in the linkie is a similar sound.

Overall, Me likey the Maytag and have no complaints about it, except perhaps longer cycle times than I'm used to.

Sorry about the typing. I can spell, just don't proof-read too well.

(Just look deeper into this!)

Should read MUST not JUST

Ah yes, the whining sound of a modern frontloader. My AEG has that too and lots of others have it as well. That's how those modern fangled things sound. LOL

I love the dishwasher. If my AEG ever gives up I'm going to consider a Bosch. BTW, I noticed that the spare rack is a different model than the one in the dishwasher. Which one is the original?

The more basic one is the original - the one in the machine is the previous owners upgrade.

OK MAJOR RANT COMING!

Got the GE,a s posted above. It went through its maiden load.

Normal wash
Hi-temp wash
Heated dry.

All seemed well.

Instead of shutting itelf off, It beeped and flashed me!
Beeping stopped upon unlatching the machine. Then, it would not start again for a few days no matter what I did. Either the "normal" light flashed or the "start" light flashed.
Turned off the power. Days later, upon being powered-up, sometimes it ran, sometimes it freaked out.

Just had a new electronic timer/control panel installed today under warranty.

Guess what? IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN!
AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

oh Frank I have a sick headache; get me a midol............
I feel sorry for the poor shcmuck who gets MY phone call tomorrow. GE CARES my @$$!!!!

Ok we are on computerized timer-board #3 and still no-workie!

At least this repairman got enginering on the phone and they checked the placement and ohm value of the "timers" plug-in resistor. He did continuity checks and various other fun tests!

Yes folks, the repairman was on speaker-phone (while I was listening), and GE will not authorize a new machine be exchanged while there exists the slimmest hope of the thing being repairable.

My gut iinstinct keeps telling me its this resistor. But line voltage in my secion of long island is 127v according to the guy's meter. Wonder if it's frying the innards upon first fire-up!

Methinks it's time to have a hairy hissy-fit and get this thing fixed or replaced already.
