hey thanks for the information! they do sound like pretty cool machines. anyone know the design of the machines that came after these but predated the classic center dial machines? |

The 'Supermatic' 101 and the 102 were squashed in the middle - between the original AMP/A2MP and the 'All-Fabric' 140 center dialed machine. The 101P was built from 1954 through 1955 - with the 102P replacing it was produced from 1955 through early 1957. The 101P featured the rear controls and was the first Maytag to have a removable front panel. The 102P was the first Maytag with a Soak cycle and also featured the first tub light in a Maytag. The light was a lamp built into the lid. The lid had a little window in the base for the light to shine to the tub with the hatch open. Here is a picture of a 101P that needs just a little bit more before the restoration is completed. Ben |
