I have yet to get it...but I have today been and got myself a 2003 Hotpoint Aquarius 1000 with "Powerstream" in Natural Linen colour.

Bought it on a total off chance but its in full working order and has had very little use. I'll be bringing it home at the weekend for its well needed clean down and a load trial.

If anybody has any thoughts on these machine's, good or bad then it would be great to hear them as I don't know much about these models.....

Not sure how much it will clash with my current collection but at least it's British!...Here's a pic...

Nice machine, I used to have a WMA-Series Hotpoint myself. It was a similar model to this, a WMA34 in Polar White. I had it from early October 2001 to early October 2005 when it was replaced with the much more superior Miele lol.

In general, I thought it was a good machine, it had a large 6KG drum, a good amount of programmes and options and it had a great wash performance too.

I quite liked the Powerstream feature on it, it's just like the special handwash-wool programme on today's WF/WT-Series models. The odd thing was that it span anti-clockwise when it did it, but span clockwise when it did the normal spinning.

I liked the design of it and it's ease of use. But I had to put up with a slighty-sensitive spin unbalance detector which on some loads, left the clothes feel damp and not fully spun dry. It had only 1000RPM spin but results from it were impressive. So impressive in fact, it managed to get a B rating for spin but of course it's rated A for washing and enengy efficiency.

My time with it came to an end when I noticed a odd sound from it. It started with a squeaking noise but when it disapeared, it was replaced with a loud rumbling noise, most audible when spinning. I found out that the bearings have failed and that it would be costly to repair the machine so it had to be replaced, natually with a Miele.

Overall, I liked the machine and reliability was great, it's just a pity that this series of models doesn't feel well engineered. Especially with it's design flaws. Oh well, at least the current Ultima is an improvement over it and the Aqualtis too, which reminds me, I'm still looking foreward to their new range, especially their forthcoming Aqualtis tumble dryer. That should get me excited this year lol.

That's my ownership experience for ya!

oh dear

I wish you well in your purchase but I had nothing but misery with that machine. I had one for two years and i broke 8 times within that (2 new spiders, 1 new motor, 1 new punp, 2 sets of plastic paddles/ 1 complete new drum )machine was awful from get go

I hope you have more luck than I did as I liked the machine for its spin washes and high level rinses

Right....

I had a feeling it would be a situation of mixed opinion what with the Hotpoint brand being very up and down. Keep the comments coming though :)!

I'm only paying twenty quid for it. I wanted something vintage to boost my collection but I thought I'd give this a go for what it's worth. It will only be used a second machine anyway as I have the Miele's as daily drivers.

Two days to go until pick up, still don't know what to expect!
