Boo Hoo for me. I was using my newly aquired Kenmore Dryer and when I went to adjust the thermostat (yes, it's adjustable, kind of looks like a toaster type) the sparks went flying.

Funny though, the drum still spins, just no heat now. So what do you think; thermostat or broken heating coil?

How do these variable thermostats work? Is it when the carbon disks are touching that the heat comes on, or the opposite? Are they repairable? Or, if it's a broken heating coil, can you repair these. Unfortunately it is not a Whirlpool made dryer see link.

Any ideas?

Guy
