After bringing my late model dishwasher back from the curb and finding out how old she was,
I am wondering if anyone would have instructions or repair guides for Lady K.
The model # is 587-760710
Serial # is 03604451275.
It was sold here in Canada under Simpsons Sears LTD Canada,
With a Sears Roebuck USA sticker.
This is the machine I went back for in the middle of the night and took from the scrap pile.
She has worked great for the last 8 years but stopped draining.
Any insight would be great,
Brian.

Has Got To Be Something Simple (well, sometimes it is!)

Brian,
This machine would probably has a reversing motor in it to pump out the water. If it is a Whirlpool built unit, the check valve may have become clogged with somnething which is preventing the water from draining out. I got a perfectly working machine from the back of a Sears that someone trashed because it did not drain and was probably told it needed a new pump assy (it was a power module unit). When I unscrewed the check valve, I found a small metal washer in it which cut the opening down to less than 1/4 inch. Not too much water got by that washer not to mention debris which backed up behind it too.

I would check that scenario out and see what happens.
If this was a D/M designed machine, it also reversed direction to drain but did not use a drain valve so you should check to make sure you dont have a kinked hose somewhere or that the hose is blocked in some way. A clogged Air gap on top of the counter or a clogged disposer or something caught in the drain.
Sometimes small items like toothpicks, pits or straws and such make their way past the drain impellers and work themselves into drain hoses and clog up the lines someplace. If you hear your motor stopping and changing direction, chances are there is nothing more than a clog somewhere. I think a broken drain impeller would be a rare occurence in these types of machines and their designs would not wear out very quickly either.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you make out.
Steve
