Hi again. I've just sent two videos of the Miele W S 416 on my site (start of wash and cooling down). It's a so pretty frontal machine.I am trying to send a third (spin and final rinse), but it's more difficult because it is longer ...
Enjoye!
Bert

Hi there

Thanks for doing this, I know how time consuming it can be.

What is the spin speed on this machine if you don't mind me asking?

All the best

Rob

Bertrand,

Wonderful videos of a wonderful machine! Those were the real Mieles!

Rob,

These machines spin at 700rpm. The last series of the 421 spins at 800rpm, not sure how it is with the 412/416 series. This 416 is from a later series, it has the electric door opener. Earlier series had a doorhandle.

This looks like a very heavy machine, what do you estimate it weighs?

weight

110 kg! (this machine has 2 motors: one for washing and one for spinning). On vidéo, at the beginning, you can see the first one stops and the second one starts.

Around 4 years ago I scanned the Dutch 1973 Miele brochure . The 416S is in it. Here's the scan of the picture page of the 412S and the 416S. The 416S is a variant of the 412S, the 416S has the possibility to connect it to 380Volts (now 400).

Here's the scan of the page with the technical details. As you can see this machine is 61cm wide which meant it didn't qualify for the European standard kitchen size. Probably one of the reasons why it had to be followed up by a newer model.

The 416S had a 6kW heating element when it was connected to 380V. That hurried up the heating part of the main wash!

BTW, the weight of this machine is 125kg. Miele doesn't make them that heavy anymore!

Motors

Bert,

I think the Americans would say this machine has three motors because they count the motor for the pump as well. A lot of American toploaders have just one motor to which the pump is connected to. So this machine is a three motor washer!

pump

So, you're right. There is a independant pump with its motor!
