Robert has a 1966 Wizard. The agitator is different, but it uses a Franklin transmission, and the tub indexes. I recall these machines from the 1960's, but under the Coronado brand name. They had a very unique operating sound, too. Kind of like an asthmatic pig.

Those are good washers....Mom had a Wizard Citation when I was younger and she loved it. It did a wonderful job on the clothes..we also had an avocado green Wizard Citation refrigerator for about 15 years til the compressor finally went out in it. Too bad you dont see many of them anymore

Well, the Franklin transmission lives on in my TL Frigidaire.

Unfortunately, the machine's agitator isn't up to the task of efficiently turning over a load in its large tub. Part of the reason I bought the Frigidaire was to have that old school transmission, knowing that, eventually, they'll be phased out. The company can't continue to lower the maximum water level in order to meet water/energy federal mandates forever!

I know two people locally with Frigidaires from the late 80s-early 90s and they're daily drivers. Maybe mine will last that long, too.

I had an '87 Frigidaire for about a year and it was already to the point where it wouldn't start spinning until almost half the water had drained. At the time, I blamed the transmission; maybe it was a loose belt issue or something.

PeterH has an old (early sixties) Wizzzzzard we rescued from the warehouse down in south Georgia. The top on the poor dear has totally rusted through, yet the rest of the machine is in really good shape! Go figya.
