Hey guys, i need some info on an beautiful Lady Kenmore set i found today at the Salvation Army, I got the set for $50.00, they both work, but i need to know a thing or two. The washer is a pushbutton LK with the pull down cover, and a white Vari-Flex agitator, is this a three speed or a two speed? Next i want to know if i can change out the agitator with a Super Rotoswirl, the washer also has the detergent and softener dispenser on the side, the control panel is lighted so is the dial, and i think the wash tub as well, any ideas as to the year? I cant wait to get these baby's home. I'll have pics of them as soon i get them home, which will be when Nathan get off work tomorrow. Thanks Guys Lee

Lee, I'd go get them. But please, do not remove that vari-flex agitator. That is far better than a super rotoswirl. Keep the vintage machine as close to iriginal as possible. And it's probably a 3-speed.

The first two numbers after 110. should be a good indication
of the year on that vintage of LKW; LKD as well. Darrel

yes you can change the agitator,but you will probably mess it up getting it out because after all these years of the agitator being in there it will be stuck.it is middle to late seventies.

That is a beautiful set that you are describing here. And at $50.00 for both machines (that actually work), that's considered a steal.

Now to answer your questions:

(01). The washer is a 3-Speed machine.

(02). If there is nothing wrong with the "Vari-Flex" agitator (like if it isn't broken or anything like that), I'd leave it in.

(03). Look at the push-buttons on the washer. If they have the colored strips right on the top or bottom of the buttons (depending on how the buttons are positioned), then it is a 1969-71. If the push-buttons do NOT have the colored strips on them, then it is a 1972-73.

(04). Sorry to disappoint you, but your Lady Kenmore Washer does NOT have a lighted tub on the inside of it (at least, it is not listed as a feature in neither, my 1969 or 1971 Sears Catalogs). They (meaning Whirlpool.... since they have always made washers for Sears) have done away with the lighted tubs back in the mid 1960's. The last Lady Kenmore to feature a "lighted tub" was the 1965 Lady Kenmore with the push-buttons on top of the "cycle-timer". The "click-stop" cycle timer dial is lighted, thanks to the control panel itself.

(05). If your washer only has a detergent dispenser (the bleach and fabric softener dispensers are on the inside of the machine, under the left side of the lid when you are facing the machine) on the right side of the lid when you are facing the machine, then, again, it is a 1969-71 model. If it has the "Triple Dispenser" (for detergent, bleach and fabric softener) then it is a 1972-73.

When you get those babies home and cleaned up pretty good, then I would be looking forward to seeing the picture of your new (vintage) "Ladies". Could you also have Nathan take a picture of you actually operating the machine???

That would be appreciated......

Lee, everything that has been said, is true. I own a 72 Lady K set, and its the best.
DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT Replace the Vari-Flex agitator. Super Roto-swirl can't beat the vari-flex at all. yours is a 3 speed also.

I had the '73 LK for 23 years and it was great. Three speed, and the Vari-flex agitator was great. I still have the gold sunburst cap someplace, wish I still had the machine.

 I will post pics of them as soon as i get the "Ladies" cleaned, and ready to use. Now that i remember, these are exactly like my Aunt Adiranas machines, it does have a triple dispenser on the right side. I so cant wait to PLAY, and bring back my childhood memories, and get my collection going again, as i sold off all my machines before i move to Italy in 2006. P.S when is the next washin and where will it be held, cause i will so be there.
