Hey Fellas, Does anyone know about the relability of the 70's GE Portable Dishwashers from the 70s? There is an avacado one at the local restore (that I just found today!!!) I took some pictures with my cell, but I need to get home to transfer them over to the computer, to post on here. Thanks Fellas!

wow! I need to learn not to type on here when I am so exhausted... haven't forgotten about these pics... (other computer is in use). The unit looks to be in great shape, inside and out... the 70's are a little later than I'd like, I'd love a 60's or 50's model (in something that isn't avacado). It would serve the purpose (I NEED a dishwasher), but I can't bring myself to destroy the origional 50's cabnets to put in one that wouldn't match my slowly retro-ing kitchen.

I've had two of these- both had tub liner issues, particularly at the bottom of the door, and the front bottom edge of the tub. The "Perma-Tuf" material GE used back then wasn't quite as great as GE liked to think it was, evidently. I'd check carefully for rust bubbles before plunking down any money. My experience is that once this starts, it's only going to get worse. If you don't see any problems, go for it- mine were otherwise reliable. |
