Any of you ever see the Episode of I LUV LUCY called "Never Do Business with Friends"??? They end up fighting over a washing machine??? No one could ever quite tell what machine it was on VHS but I have it on DVD now and it is as clear as a bell.
ClubQUIZ: Can anyone tell me what machine body they used for 10 points and for a bonus 100 points can anyone tell me what was the "Brand" name of the machine on the show??

I've only seen the episode a few times but it kinda looks like a Maytag AMP type, and I think the name on the front was Empery or something to that effect. Am I way off? Do I get what's behind curtain #1 where Carol Merrill is standing?

Pete you are Correct Sir! it is a Launderall Body they used with Gas Stove handles AND Coldspot you have very good eyes! You are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO close to the name they used! Robert and I squinted and squinted on the tape last year and still couldn't make it out!
The Brand name is EPERNAY! Yes the Champagne town in France! EPERNAY! Someone had a sense of humor don't you think??

"Oh Ricky I'm off to do a load in the Epernay!"

Yay! I have the episode on VHS. I just squint better than you!
;-)
I always wished they would have shown Lucy's "new" washer and dryer in that episode. I was sure they were 1955 Westinghouse twins!

I bet they were TOL models too! With synthetic fabric cycles!! They should have squeezed them into her Kitchen beside the 40 inch Range she baked the monster bread in!!!

maybe it was a Horton...

golittlesport's profile picture
Look at this ad on the attached Ebay link. The Horton version of the Launderall really looks a lot like Ethyl's new washing machine. Notice the controls of the Horton "500" are on the front top of the cabinet rather than on the middle front of the cabinet on the Launderall. Hmmm....

Hi Rich: Thanks for the link that will go real nice with my Launderall when I get it finished.
I didn't know Horton took over from Jacobs in making the Launderall. Always something new!!
