I wish Robert would stop showing that darn ad! ;) I LOVE those westinghouse's and have always wanted a set. Did they make like two sets or what, because I've never seen any for sale or along the road or anything. You can't even find the stacked ones, which I would kill for too! It's a shame they don't make them anymore and the LG's with the back panel suck, so I returned those. Thanks for the great picture Robert. :) Laurent

The WH front loaders with the control panel were definitely not as widely sold as the stack machines. If you are serious about finding a stack pair, you can go through the Yellow pages and look for preferably independent appliance repair firms. Call them and ask if they do service on these. If they do, they might be able to let you know how to find one. Failing that, if you have any appliance parts dealers, you could try calling them and ask if they know of anyone who services these machines. The great number of the stack machines were sold to apartment and condo projects that only have room for similar sized units. These places generally used one service person or company to maintain them. One large apartment building here keeps a little chained off parking place for the man who services the Westinghouse, Electrolux, Frigidaire etc. washers and dryers. He is there Monday through Friday. Such a person or company would probably know if any that were still in good shape were available. Sometimes a service person will save a good machine for resale so you would have a chance of realizing your dream.

stacked Westy's

I had a stacked fl westy pair in a house that i rented in dc during the early 80's. it was brand new and i LOVED it. however, found out later that the owner of the house vented the dryer into the attic instead of outside, and that turned out to be a mold problem as well as a fire hazard.

I had a friend that went to james madison university in harrisonburg va and lived in a dorm that was a suite and they all had those stacking westy.s just as i, he loved watching the washer chug along through the window. i'd love to have a set now, too bad they stopped making them.

for one thing, they used ENOUGH water to actually get the job done still saving a lot of water compared to a tl.

sorry, people, but i like having water in my fl's.

courtney in w'boro va.

Thanks Tom, I'll dig the phone book out this weekend and give it a try. :)

I had a nice brand new set in the early 90's Courtney and I sold them to a friend of mine. I don't know WHAT I was thinking!! I still have frontloaders, but you are correct. The ones now are too cheap with the water! :)
