I have to decide tomorrow whether I am buying one of these. The 82 is the best front loader in this line. Do any of you have one? If so, what is your expoerience? Also I am too cheap to pay $200 for a pedestal. Is there a cheaper one that is interchangable? The guy at Sears had no idea. It kills me to spend $750 on a washer, but I love gadgets and hate laundry. Am I crazy to spend $250 more for a washer than I had planned?

44052

We purchased the 44052 in Feb. it is excellent the only difference between the 44052 and 44082 in in trim, spin speed for the 44082 is 1100 rpm vs 1000 on the 44052 and the ATC auto temp control. This week here the 44152 (sister to the 44052) is on sale for 699.99. We did not get the pedestal. We also use the Sears HE detergent.

More on the 44052

The rubber gasket in the door has drain holes higher on it. So we lift the gasket up and hold for about 30 seconds for the water to drain the take a towel or sock and finish drying the gasket. We do this each time we have finished our laundry for the day/week.

I had Frigidaire service come out yesterday, and they determined that the motor speed board was defective. He said nothing involved with putting the machine on a pedastel could have caused damage......

Water In Gasket

After the wash, there's water left in the gasket between the door and the tub, approximately half a cup. It does not drain away. Other than that poor design, it seems to be a good machine (I have the Kenmore 44052). There is a good deal of vibration with a heavy load on high spin but otherwise it is very quiet.
