I was just wondering if anyone had one.
I had the chance to use one today.
I like the way they look and light up.
They seem to take a long time to do a cycle. The normal wash was 57 minutes. It pauses and stops so much. I kept thinking, get on with it.
They seem to be very frugal with water, The entertainment value is non exsistant.
I was wishing for a bit more splashing water and suds.
The clothes were incredibly dry at the end of the wash.
I guess thats the point. Just wondering if they clean well.

Don't play with me!

Are these machines crap?
I did notice that the Made In Korea sticker was on the inside of the door.
Is this good, bad or indifferent?

Nobody's playing with you . . .

It's just that different people have had wildly varied experiences with LG. For some, they wash well and are reliable. Others have had chronic problems with them. It seems like LG has no interest on a corporate level with supporting products once they've been sold, and this has resulted in service problems beyond belief due to lack of parts and knowledge. Others have had decent service if the local distributer cares about their customers, but even so if the root of the problem is a design issue then they're back to square one due to the lack of corporate support. I don't own one so this is strictly a distillation of what's been reported here many, many times.

Brian~

Before the peanut gallery starts trashing LG Tromm, I want to tell you I have owned my LG Tromm Front Load W/D for 2 years and I can tell you it is a great machine! It can be pricey though as my set cost us $2300.00. I have been fortunate enough to not have any problems with it other than a small leak which I called LG service and they were out to fix it within 3 days.
Now in all fairness, I know of a few people on this site who have had issues with LG's service, but I never have and the people I know who have LG Front load machines haven't either. I think it is a regional problem in certain areas of the country, but here in Florida, it is no issue.
I would like to recommend that if you choose to buy LG, make sure that from time to time you use Affresh Washer Tabs in your machine to clean it of any residual musty odors.

Good Luck!

I'm sorry I canno't agree - I recommend you don't buy it because of the real poor service. Do a google and put in
'lg service nightmare'. Yes make sure that people in your area will service your machine.
I will say that it did clean well when it worked. I did like the water circulation system. The balance to spin was totally stupid with 3 rinses it added at least 20 minutes to a cycle. Today they all don't use much water so you won't see a show. I got rid of mine almost a year ago. I don't miss the aggravation and use public laundry. I want another combo but am taking my time investigating. If you want a good front loader go with the Frigidaire. Most people have had good luck with them. I like the speed queen but they are expensive and so stripped down in cycle options. Amazing their top loaders offer a lot of cycles and options but the front loaders don't.
Good Luck with whatever you decide.
Peter

I do not say buy or not to buy. use your own judgment

I have 2 of the "nightmare" machines and while the do a very good job of washing the take a VERY long time to do it. They dumb down the water temps so you cannot really get hot water unless you use the sanicycle. Both of the machines I have have leaked water from day 1. I dont care about that as they are in the main plant and most of the larger machines leak a bit too. However if it were in my home I would be pissed big time.. Service has taken anywhere from 2weeks to 2 mons. to get if I can get it at all. This year they will both be expensed out. We are going to have a nice big cake and celebrate them going to the CRUSHER! After we bash them to death with hammers. I have several employees that are paying $ 5.oo a blow to bash them with brick thru the window, one wants to use a tire tool, one wants to beat the controls with a hammer, one wants to bang them with a crow bar, one wants to pour oxlic acid (rust remover) on the control wiring and watch it eat it up.. And finally one wants to watch them fall of the loading dock an "crash"on the concrete. Does this tell you anything? I have already raised almost 200.00 from the employess that want to beat them.. We are donating the money to the North Shore Animal League in Chicago

Ya know as a unique collectors item (a water cooled combo washer/dryer), I'd HAVE to have one.

As a daily-driver NOT!

I have an LG brand cell/mobile phone that once turned off does not like to turn on. NEVER AGAIN! (JEEZ I'm at that age that I can turn them off but not on! *WINK*)

Pretty convincing reply.
I didn't realize they were that expensive.
Just wondering what the filter at the bottom was all about.
Behind the little door on the left hand side.
Do you have to clean it out after every load?, and is it very big and what does it look like?
Thanks for all the input.I think I will pass on them.
Mostly due to the price and the length of time.

Hey Brian!,
I have the set with the controls on the rear.Non stackable.I bought these at the flea market and they have a full 1 year warranty through the seller.I used to sell them too as well as their other appliances.I have mixed fealings but all in all, they are great machines! My clothes have never been cleaner looking or smelling since I bought these.I got the set for $400!The washer spins 1200 RPMs!The dryer is fast.Usualy 20 minutes to dry!

The major problem with most L.G products is being able to find a servicer who stocks the parts. Most have to order them before being able to repair the unit and some are not at all familiar with L.G.'s new electronic technology. Some(most)custonmers and/or service companies are too impatient and don't want to wait for parts.I had one of their combos(24" model)and had to wait 4 months to get it fixed. The repair company clamed the manufacturer of that part(not LG)had been on strike.L.G.agreed and lengthened my warranty for another full year! That IMOP was way too long to wait.I had to wait two weeks for a new motor in my FRIGIDAIRE pro series dishwasher then had to reschedule the return to have it completed.A total of three weeks I had to wait for repair.Tht to me sounds normal but to most people,it's not. This is what most customers who own L.G. products seam to be angry about.Otherwise, they're great and mine get used regularly. As a matter of fact,I am currently washing my throw pillows off my sofa and chairs! If you use the Permanent Press cycle, more water comes in almost up to the window!Just FYI
