Hi all, I've been on the Comet website and what do I see that's of my delight? Why it's the new range of Hotpoint washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers which look absolutely superb!

Lets begin with the entry-level model, the Aquarius WML520P.

Nice isn't it?

And then there's the WML540G in graphite.

Mid-range with the Aquarius+ WMF740P which has a slightly different control panel design and a few more features.

The WMF760G in graphite.

Post# 276786 , Reply# 9   4/25/2008 at 19:12 (5,842 days old) by platinum6 ()

The Aquarius TCL770G. There's also the Ultima TCD970P but there's no pic of it yet. Expect it to have the control panel syle of the Ultima washing machine. The Aqualtis tumble dryers will arrive soon.

They dont do much for me sadly

Notice that although (according to our rep) 90% of Hotpoint laundry is stil UK assembled none of the new range actually has made in Great Britain on the facia :(.

A sign of things to come me thinks....

Seamus

P.S The washing machines use the Ariston side opening detergent drawer

Indeed, it'll be a sad day when Kinmel Park closes its doors. Give me a 95 series over one of these Indesit designs any day.

Seamus,

Me Too!

far to busy and none to easy on the eye,

Sad as it may be about Kinmel shutting whenever it does it will be a good thing for the UK not to be producing this rubbish anymore - just a shame for the poor workers there who will lose their jobs. Its such an embarressment seeing the Hotpoint name on Indesits I hope they do change their minds and switch to the Ariston name.

I think its a bloody darn cheek that Indeshit promote in the brochure about Hotpoint being a Trusted Brand and cashing in on it when they had nothing to do with Hotpoint building this reputation.

Perhaps they need to look at their reputation from 1990 - present day and judge themselves from that letting Readers Digest know along the way.

R

I don't like these new machines. These are not Hotpoints at all. Just like Hoovers are not really Hoovers they are Candy machines.

Post# 277132 , Reply# 22   4/27/2008 at 18:16 (5,840 days old) by platinum6 ()

I'm glad you're all enjoying the Hotpoint gallery, there seems to be mixed views on the design of them but in my view, they look great.

I hope Hotpoint doesn't stop production at Kinmel Park any time soon. I can't imagine the brand not being made there, think of all the jobs that would be lost. I just hope it stays open for the long-term future.

My dream models I'd have from the range would be the Ultima WMD940K and TCD970K in black because they look quite nice. Still no sign of the Aqualtis tumble dryer though.

Ah, they've been beaten with the Ugly Stick!

I'm not to impressed with their design either.

Also, I'm rather concerned about tiny print labelling the controls. When my Mum was looking for a new machine a couple of years ago, she chose the Bosch, because the Hotpoint Aqualtis had small print on the fascia.

She can read the Bosch without her glasses.

They're not attractive machines, and have been designed to look better in 'fashionable' graphite type colours. Also a bit design for design's sake kind of thing.

That one dryer with the knob not in the centre looks really weird as well.

Hey guys,
When i went to hotpoint, alot of the stuff was prototypes and just makin its way through, there was no black washers on display, they had a black fridge out though, they stuck an aqualtis on spin for us. the indesits with digital display are now 7kg, though the drumsize looks no different.

I like the look of some of the range, i prefer the new door design, i'm sick of my hotpoint though, im really bored of it not being able to spin because of poor suspension.

I'd much prefer something made by electrolux.

Also, the dishwashers look like Hoovers last lot - rejects?

Post# 277228 , Reply# 27   4/28/2008 at 05:25 (5,840 days old) by bearpeter ()
2 rinses?

Do these machines do the "Indesit" 2 rinses? Hope not cos if so..... count me out! I always have to do the normal wash programme for cottons then reset Rapid non colourfast wash to ensure good rinse results.

Suspension

seamusuk's profile picture
Hey Darren
According to our rep the suspension issue has been addressed in the new models - guess time will tell on that one . I was talking to Mike a couple of days ago about the huge price increases on the new range . Maybe its a sign of things to come with all appliances ??

To be fair we got the wmf740 in and its bloody heavy. i do hope they've addressed the suspension because it really made me go off it.

also the only machine with an extra rinse is the basic aquarius models:( so every programme has 2 rinses i'd imagine.

Hi
The new hotpoint aqualtis (AQGMD149) washer dryer is 8kg and 6kg to dry, quite impressive, however somethings that are even impressive are the super quick 3.5kg wash in 15 minutes which is 30* (Bosch does 2kg in that time 30*.)
Another impressive thing is that it will wash and dry in 1 hour, in the brochure it says examples like school uniform wash if you've forgotten about it.

All of these features are impressive but they're only in that machine, not in the washing machines or other washer dryers, but it's still a good poduct by thelook of it!

Hi Guys.

I popped into Comet a couple of weekends ago and they had two machines on display - the Ultima and a fairly low level Aquarius.

They are deffo an acquired taste!

To my mind they are very fussy to look at, especially the dial controlled machines (the machines with finger and thumb grabs on the dial look very awkward).

One major dislike I have of them is the Ariston, swivel powder drawer which is across the range - looks and feels cheap. Very retrograde step I feel.

The design just looks out of balance, with big dial in the middle and smaller dials and buttons placed all around them in banks rather than rows.

The weirdest thing to me is the doors and the solid moulding which conceals the door release. I really dont know how to explain this, but the solid moulding makes the door look unbalanced, whereas the current machines with their all moving grab handles dont (again to my eyes anyway).

When I downloaded the brochure and saw the Aquarius+ dryers one thing jumped into my mind - CYCLOPS.

Having looked again at the brochure, I am tempted to write an e-mail to Russell T. Davies, recommending a them as a new enemy of Doctor Who, for they have the look of Daleks about them with that protruding central programmer/timer dial.
They have even done them in a couple of suitable colours for Russell, so he wouldnt even have to spray them - satin aluminium, graphite and black.

Have to say though, I do like the dishwashers.

I hope the series will grow on those of us who have mixed feelings about them - time will tell I am sure!

Cheers
Paul
