Well after Roger got this rough beauty to me it sat for a year and now since Xmas I have been slowly rebuilding her for maiden service.
Tonight she got her virgin water load!

One of the things I love

jetcone's profile picture
is putting a new supple boot onto a Bendix for double duty service! This one is brand new and made of EPDM rubber-- bleach, ozone, light proof!
New Bootination!

Nice slosage inside, and NO bearing noise!

This machine did alot of work in its day and was used in some kind of garage. Because it smelt like old cars and was covered in machine grease inside and out which in the next picture you will see has preseved the inside to almost factory new!
I had to really scrub the whole inside out to get this thing clean!

Video Collection?

Whenever you get the chance, I would be more than interested in collecting a good Youtube demo of your fabulously restored Bendix. I would especially love to hear what she sounds like. Many thanks.--Laundry Shark

Jon,
I am glad to see her back in service. I was afraid once I got her home and had a good look but you saved her. Congrats to you.
Did you know that the "place" she and my Blackstone and Unimatic called home is being hauled to chrusher? Glad we saved all we did.

~As soon as I buy a camcorder I would be happy to oblige.

Many digital cameras offer a "movie" recording option....

Make it turquoise and I'll buy if from you down the road when you feel the need to release it into the universe.

We should tawk, GF!

What memories!

The first washing machine of my childhood. Like everyone else, I'm looking forward to any videos you're able to put together.

As to colour - maybe I'm old fashioned, but I've only every thought of that model as being white.

Nick

Oh, nearly forgot ...

Could anyone tell me the model number and years of manufacture of that machine?

Should I be watching the mails.......or better yet are you coming over in person??

Nick this machine was made here in 1956 and think it was the same for OZ but I think it was the 1957 model year in the UK.

I have too many white machines my collection needs some color so I think tutone white top & Sun Burst yellow it is.

I just can't paint good Bendix porcelain can you??

All white and one machine in color?

It's gonna look like a whore in church - no matter the color you pick, so just paint it red and enjoy it!

Jon, I was with Roger when he dropped the machine off to be shipped to you. I thought it was such a neat machine and I can see that it is going to be. Love the idea of the bright red. What a fun spot that will be in your laundry area. Can't wait to see her when you finish!! Terry
