I just found out that Malber is going to be having a new combo 2000 comming out by July. I got no other information. Has anyone heard anything else? I may be interested in purchasing but want to make sure it's not going to be a rebagged eurotech or LG model.
Thanks,
Peter

Splendide

That combo looks very much like the Splendide combo in our camper which we've had for about 7 years. The Splendide is also made in Italy.

It's a great machine. Cleans well, spins at about 1400 rpm. And the dryer works well, but because of the size of the tub, there's not much room for the clothes to tumble, so it has to be a small load to get them dry.

Maybe the Malber company is the Italian version of Whirlpool?

Bompani machine

The machine it is made by Bompani and seems quite an old model...

Now THAT 's Italian!

Had a vented Malber Comb-o-matic in the 80's; loved it. It was Italian made.

110v drying took a very long time, but in an apt that did not have 220v (and where a gas dryer was not an option), it was the best available option.

I get the feeling the new machine will be the same as the eurotech or whirlpool which I would stay away from. I heard to many bad things about it. I did check out the splindide website and saw they have a new model. But I don't know to much about it or service in my area. It does look like a European Indisit. I don't know the record on them. Maybe they will just use the new Equator. But I am awaiting to see. It would be nice if they just updated the current model with current dial controls. Problem being it's to small.

I did look at this site and I like the new machines. The question is what is the reliablity record and how and where is the service. They do look like nice machines and look like the European Indisit. So I am wondering if Malber will use this one.

Overall, Malber product is not that bad.
I just wished that all front loaders would purge/drain before filling each rinse cycle to get the left over grey water out of the sump area for a cleaner clear rinse.......

Bompani is part of the Merloni company. And if I'm not mistaken those Splendide products look a lot like Indesit appliances. Overhere in Europe they are not exactly the most reliable machines.

Hi Louis,
I hope they have made improvements to the designs. But one can never be sure. And I don't know for sure what Malber is going to use for their bigger combo. It is ashame their is so little left that you could possible rely on.

Pete,
Hang in there! I hope a good reliable combo comes along for you!
Isn't it amazing that Whirlpool has not come up with a GREAT COMBO YET? They know what works, and what does not work. I don't get it....

Hi Brent,
I have givin up hope. It is amazing with all the technology that something would be made. All the appliances are so complex. We need to go back to basics.

Peter, they furnish a phone number to their HQ for info. You can call and ask about service in your area then call the servicer and ask IF they still work on these machines, if parts are available locally, etc.

Service!

Hi Tom,
I do hear that the service in my area for Malber is good. I just want to get the specs on this new combo before I proceed.
Certain ones I will stay away from.

Two sides of the Merloni Family

The Malber machines look like models from Antonio Merloni, sold as Servis in the UK, and the Splendide look like Ariston/Hotpoints, made by Indesit Company, formerly known as Merloni Elettrodomestici -the other part of the family...both marques have mixed reputations here.

David,
Thanks for the information. I like the looks of these servis combos. Nice capicity. Only thing is they all have cold water inputs. I am sure that could be modified for the states. I wish we could pick and choose the designs. If these are the ones that malber is going to use I hope they are reliable.
