That's the rare "momentary" Wards electric washer!

That's one of those Westinghouse models from the 70's. Looks just like my Westinghouse TL from the mid 70's. I think they made rebadged Wards machines for a short while.

I didn't see that it was a "momentary" at first.
Thanks for bringing that to my attention; hilarious!

....Montgomery Ward had 18 lb and 20 lb models from the mid 70's through the early 80's sometime.

The 20 lb model was the more familiar Norge. The 18 lb models were the White Westinghouse with porcelain tub and locking lids.

forgive my ignorance, but

What is a "momentary" model?

I'm assuming "momentary" as this was a brief period when Wards/Signature machines were being manufactured by Westinghouse instead of Norge? We had the matching dryer to the Wards machine pictured in this thread. I BEGGED my Mom to buy the matching washer, but we had just purchased a 1974 Wards Signature machine a few years before. Little did I know that we already had a gem of a washer!

I believe that's a mis spelling of "Montgomery".

Did you know that the "Monkey Wards" (my girlfriend's quip-not mine!) association with Westinghouse goes back to sometime in the '50s?

I camne across an old MW mail-order catalogue at an antiques & collectibles flea market some years back, and I was surprised to see (circa 195something-I can't remember the exact year) a slope-front Wards FL; a rebadged Westinghouse Laundromat.

BTW...was it thhis website, or another one that once had one or two vintage TV commercials for Dash detergent, which featured an MW slope-front washer?
