I am in the process of aquiring a 1947 Jacobs Launderall from a customer of mine whose husband was a dentist in our town. She purchased the washer in 1947 and it had been in the second story of her garage for 40 plus years. I am disassembling it to get it thru the narrow stairway to downstairs. Any info or links would be apprecicated. In the cabinet panel removal stage I saw the motor has been removed so I have some challanges ahead of me. The design is similar to the Staber as it is a top load tumble washer. I have known about the washer for 5 years but not until I joined this group had any interest in restoring it. Thanks for any input.

Check

thread #11305. This will give you full information on the machine and tell you who has a manual for it.

Bolt down

Keith, this is the exact washer my next door neighbors had when I was a kid. Since it had a glass window in the top cover, as a kid I must have sat a zillion times watching the drum go back and forth, not to mention during dry spin! The machine is the bolt down type.

Please take a lot of pictures once you have the washer, I would love to see them all!

Emilio

Launderall by Jacobs

Yes that is the model. I was hoping to get a link to the literature from oldhouseman but can't find thread 11305. I will take some photos when I get back from Kauai. I did go to Patents.com to get drawings, it looks complex mechanically but I am used to Maytag's "gutless wonder"- the helical drive.
