I have a Maytag stacked washer/dryer in a condo I just bought. Model LSG7806AAE. It says Maytag Dependable Care Heavy Duty Large Capacity Intellidry Control on the front. Is it possible to disable the safety lid switch so I can see inside? The switch is so sensitive it stops the washer if you open the lid even slightly.

Thank you guys for all of the great pictures and videos!

Tough to do because the lid switch assy is in the rear of the right side of the washer. The lid switch is in series with a "check" switch. When you open and close the lid you hear 2 clicks. One is the lid switch and the other is the check switch. If the lid switch sticks in the "on" position, the check switch will create a short to the fuse protected inlet valve, so it will not fill. Also the off balance mechanism is incorporated into this assembly.

Thank you cold. I felt around for the switch. I hadn't noticed the 2 clicks of the switch until you pointed it out.

Drat! I reached way up under the right back rim and was able to push something up and it started the machine. The only problem is only my left hand fits and I practically had to lie sideways on the machine to reach the switch. So the machine started, but I couldn't see anything :(

Not familiar with the layout of this unit, it may not work ... but perhaps loosening the lid hinge on whichever side carries the switch, and "closing" the hinge separately from the lid ....
