This is in my area, very close to me.

And I've been wanting white centre-dial machines to replace the dread Almond ones.

But- I'd still hafta find a matching dryer, not easy here.

Maybe. Maybe.

Go for it

Sandy, there are some appliances places around that carry older items (one in Chamblee and one in Decatur) that I bet you could find a Dryer in.

That's Odd:

Look at this enlargement of the photo, showing just the console....

I don't see a divider for the two halves of the console light lens glass. And the hose is arranged so's you can't see the rest of the console, meaning the pushbuttons. And it's being sold "as-is", with no description as to the working condition- or lack thereof- of the machine.

Curious.

I live in Roswell. I might have to bid on it! Does anyone know of any shops or appliance places that might have some old machines for sale in and around Roswell?

Who the heck takes a picture of the washer with the hose laying directly over the control panel. HONESTLY

Sandy, if you end up buying it, I have an 806 dryer console, with your name on it. Lemme know.

I sent the seller a request for more photos - we'll see what, if anything, happens.

there is a place called "Castleberry's" in Chamblee that sells new and used maschines on Chamblee-Dunwoody road just off Peachtree Industrial. There is also an odd little shop -with almost no parking- on East Ponce just past Avondale going toward Clarkston. It's looks like a repair shop with odd hours. I have seen some pretty neat washers and dryers in both places. Also the antique market "Kudsu" in Decatur has an appliance or two about, mostly vintage gas stoves from the 20's or 30's but they are really high. For serious collector's it's worth keeping an eye on these places. There is also "My Favorite Place" on Peachtree Industrial. A real junk store but I have found some great items there. I have bought 18th century candlesticks and 1950's small appliances there. You never know what is going to turn up.

Yes, Castleberry's is an old friend to that community. My mom's best friend lives right around the corner from the store, and she's been buying her furniture and appliances from them ever since I can remember. She has a Danish Modern dining set she bought from them brand-new; it has seen countless family meals and company dinners and holidays and reunions. I think it's John O. Van Koert for Drexel, though it could be a copy; Mary says it's not marked Drexel anywhere.

The last I heard, she also still has her 1957 GE Liberator or Stratoliner forty-inch range down in her basement. That range held pride of place in her old kitchen, which was in the greatest '50s modern house you ever saw. They sold that house in '66, moving into a more traditional one that was custom-built for their large family's needs. To this day, Mary says the old house is where the memories are.

I'll have to get over that way soon. Thanks for the memory jog.

She is an A806 -

New pictures have been posted - but the chrome strip along the front panel was the give away. The strip was discontinued sometime between 1973 and 1975 (can't remember the exact cut-off date).
