Sandy, there are some appliances places around that carry older items (one in Chamblee and one in Decatur) that I bet you could find a Dryer in. |

Look at this enlargement of the photo, showing just the console.... I don't see a divider for the two halves of the console light lens glass. And the hose is arranged so's you can't see the rest of the console, meaning the pushbuttons. And it's being sold "as-is", with no description as to the working condition- or lack thereof- of the machine. Curious. |

I live in Roswell. I might have to bid on it! Does anyone know of any shops or appliance places that might have some old machines for sale in and around Roswell? |

Yes, Castleberry's is an old friend to that community. My mom's best friend lives right around the corner from the store, and she's been buying her furniture and appliances from them ever since I can remember. She has a Danish Modern dining set she bought from them brand-new; it has seen countless family meals and company dinners and holidays and reunions. I think it's John O. Van Koert for Drexel, though it could be a copy; Mary says it's not marked Drexel anywhere. The last I heard, she also still has her 1957 GE Liberator or Stratoliner forty-inch range down in her basement. That range held pride of place in her old kitchen, which was in the greatest '50s modern house you ever saw. They sold that house in '66, moving into a more traditional one that was custom-built for their large family's needs. To this day, Mary says the old house is where the memories are. I'll have to get over that way soon. Thanks for the memory jog. |
