The AEG LL1620 lasted me 10 months and 4 repairs later has now been returned due to re-ocurring electronic faults that no one has any idea why there happening.

So yesterday i returned the AEG and got the Siemens ASR.
My only issues i've got with the machine is its noisy, and the door lock isnt instant, but other than that loving it so far.

Enjoy the pics :)

Jay

so far so good with the rinising, it displays on the screen when its using its "hydro-sensor", been using liquid detergent so far, and everytime so far its been deleting rinses, the only other programme i've used so far is the easy-care dark and used ariel colour tablets and it did 4 rinses.

Just been so used to having brushless motors from having the hotpoint and AEG that it probably sounds noiser than what it really is but its taking some getting used to :)

Havent used any of the 14 stain programmes yet, so more things to uncover :)

Very nice machine....I wonder why we dont have that here in the Colonies. Love that drum. How much wash does that hold? Kinda reminds me of the drum I have in my Miele. Except that mine are octagons and not rounded teardrops.

:) the machine holds 7kg, the bosch version says it holds 8kg but siemens say 7kg for less creasing.

The water levels are low level but you can increase the level in the wash and rinses with the "hydro-rinse" or water plus :)
The easy care dark has high levels in all the rinses, and extra water for the wash :) apparently with the stain option it raises or lowers the water level and adds in soaks. It should be interesting to see what is does differently.

Hi jwilson00
How's your new washer running, i've heard bosch machines have a universal normal motor. is it same for siemens too?
Please can you tell me how long the 40oc cottons program takes?
Thank you!

Post# 285858 , Reply# 13   6/18/2008 at 13:40 (5,783 days old) by jwilson00 ()

Hey dyson2drums :)

Yep it still uses a universal motor, the one thing i hate :( lol, i did a full load of my large JL bath sheets and you could it put a strain on the motor so wont be doing that again, where as my AEG just powered through it. For the price of the machine i would of expected it to have a brushless motor considering i paid more for it than the AEG.

As for the wash times, a 40oC cottons takes 1:10 on light, 1:33 on normal and 2:02 on intense.

But these times can also vary depending on what the hydrosensor decects, most of the time i've been using the machine its deleted a rinse knocking off about 15mins.

Gonna try the dirty socks stain setting to see what it does, although it says it takes 3:27 lol :).

Also from what siemens have told me bosch and siemens are the same on the inside its just the features that are different, but i do know that my siemens has been made in germany i dont know if all of the bosch machines still are.

Jay :)

Yes, Siemens and Bosch washers indeed do use universal motors, but that makes them easier to fix and you donīt have to replace the entire motor if something is broken on it. I still have my AEG washer which never struggled at tumbling and even at spinning at 1800 rpm.
But I still do like your washer! If mine breaks down, Iīll buy a similar machine matching to my new dryer which is arriving soon.
Ignore the noises the motor produces, itīs a very lovely machine which will last for more than only one year. Bosch/Siemens washers are always rated as good as Miele from a german costumer magazine.

Nice machine! What liquid detergent are you using? I’m looking forward to the video’s! Can we have a photo with the wash and some suds please?

Hi variomatic, The washer has actually nicely completed my siemens set, i've got the matching dryer which i've had for two years and believe me i work it lol, and just the other week i got a siemens dishwasher which i love, its sooooooo quiet, and the dryer just has a quiet hum to it. I have noticed though that as a spare part an AEG brushless motor is cheaper than a siemens/bosch motor, which i found quite strange, as i would of thought it be the other way round, or are brushless motors cheaper to make these days.

Hey darren :) i'll try and get some vids up soon as, probably be friday when im off :) still trying to get through all the washing :D

Hi northernmary :) have been using the bold infusions liquid tabs, became a bit obsessed with buying them cause they were on offer in different places and have ended up with loads lol. But have some of the powder as well, cause its PINK!!! hee hee, ( the things that please me ) that gets quite sudsy so i'll take a couple pics :) I'll also be interested to how the hydro sensor likes bio powder.

Just ran the dirty socks cycle, interestly, the washer soaked the socks in just clean water for an hr, doing one complete turn every so often, then it dispensed the detergent, and filled to the rim of the door, washed and instead of using the hydro sensor for the rinses, did 4 standard rinses.

Hi Jay, thanks for the information...so Iīll go on buying the Siemens dryer cause my retailer has problems to get it and so I cancelled the buy. Iīve got a Bosch dishwasher as well, which I really like..Iīīve got it since Decembre and itīs doing very well so far.
Pink washing powder...gay..ehm, YAY..LOL! I want to have some as well ;-)

new bosch logixx washer, which i believe does more or less the same as my siemens, has the same stain removal programmes, i believe this has been out in germany for a while now ( correct me if im wrong :) ).
I remember seeing a promo video for it ages ago before logixx 8 came to uk, and was quite disappointed when it wasnt the same machine, just a dummed down version. Not too sure on the silver door though, looks a bit out of place.

one these vid's i used the grease + oil stain setting, which lasts around 2:02, the only difference i noticed was that it used a higher water level for the wash and rinses. On the first rinse the sensor detected detergent so performed the 2nd rinse, i've noticed with liquid detergent it'll only do a total of 2 rinses but when using powder it'll do a total of 3. Depending on programme and settings it doesnt always use the hydroSensor for the rinses.

I love the way it informs of what type of rinse its carrying out, messages it displays can be :

Foam detection: Extra rinse
Rinising with hydroSensor
Rinising

and for the final rinse will display softening :)

Hi Jay
the video of the 2nd rinse is amazing, however does it fill during spins or just at the start of the 2nd rinse?
Was the pump on whilst it was filling and spinning, slow down?
Thanks for the videos, very appreciated.

Hey! Nice set of vids there!! Its so strange seeing a Siemens fill with that much water for a rinse lol! The drum seems to wobble about alot when washing I noticed, a bit like how my Hoover did but yours seems ALOT more stable on spin lol!! My Bosch maxx used to fill in exactly the same way for rinses as your siemens! But mine didnt have the cascade so you just got the sound of the water sloshing in between the drum as it slowed down :)

Glad your liking your new machine!!

Richard

Post# 288053 , Reply# 31   7/1/2008 at 05:47 (5,771 days old) by jwilson00 ()

Hey richard :)

Yeah the drum does tend to move alot, on the spin sometimes it does do a bit of the re-balancing unlike a bosch i had which rarely did any re-balancing, balanced or not lol.
On this one if it detects a in-balanced when its speeding up just after the distribution stages it'll immediatly slow down and re-balance, i guess it has too since the outer tub is massive.

I could be wrong on this one, but interestingly if you bother with the weight sensor, in the load adjust stage it'll just tend to fill once (one long fill) and move straight onto washing, where as if you dont bother with it, it'll fill then do the whole checking the water level and filling on and off till its right, i could be wrong and its just been a fluke each time i've happened to look at it.
I'd like to know though if any washers have the weight sensor connected to how much the washer fills by.

Jay x
