I went into my friend's mom's basment today to look at her dead Dependable Care Maytag washer.(see Deluxe forum) In the corner close to it was the most beautiful early seventies Speed Queen electric dryer, pristine! She told me she had the matching washer, replaced by the Maytag ten years ago. It is rare to find any Speed Queens in the Boston area at all! It had the typical McGraw-Edison console with rectangular knobs on the left, green pointers and dial face. It had two timed dry cycles and an auto cycle.

Well, to say the obvious...how about taking a picture? I'm sure we'd all enjoy seeing it.

I'll try Supersuds, but there was a lot of "stuff" on top of it. Plus, I don't really know this lady well. She might think I'm a little strange if I ask to take a pic of it. Little does she know!

John:
Who knew?!!! I went on Repairclinic.com to see the parts the the Dependable Care. There is a fuse, two different lid switches, and two different timers. There is also a lid switch kit which includes a fuse. What to do???????

I'd say offer to buy her a newer dryer and get hers in exchange!

Toggles:
Except it's the washer that's broke, not the dryer.

I'm going there tonight to fix the Dependable Care (hopefully) and of course I don't have my camera handy. I'll get of shot of that Speed Queen dryer yet!
