Local Tip?

Does your local tip let you take things you want? - even a backhander to the guys there sometimes work depending upon what you want and will offer.

It would be shame to let this 'Last of the real' Hotpoints die.

Maybe even keep and eye for someone throwing one out and give them a knock on the door.

I was shocked last november when I went to the London Meet up we had where Seamus and myself found a clapped out 12 month old Indesit dumped outside someones house awaiting someone to collect it - im sure one will be knocking around at some poin.
That dosnt happen around here as we have to take it ourselves to a local tip.

Skips on the otherhand are easy pickings with owners consent.

Heres my first ever skip raid - a 1959 Hoover 652 Deluxe that we found while at Mikes a couple of saturdays. The owners had no problems us knocking on the door and asking for it.

that rug

....is exactly the same one as I have in my dining room! I love that old Hoover. I have recently aquired a Hoover Junior U1426 from a friend who's house is so big, he didn't even realise he had it there. It was in a disgusting condition but after some TLC and a lot of elbow grease, it is good enough to sell on Ebay. Only problem is, it has no on-board tools and I really prefer vacuums that do as I use them a lot and find them invaluable, particularly with a cat in the house. Might try to post some pics of it for once!

The cheapest I've found one new online so far is about £81.33. This although may seem a little high, it would be well worth it I feel to save this machine.
My uncle used to live in Uxbridge, and I remember seeing a re-conditioned appliance shop, not far from his flat. I cant remember the exact location but it wasn't far from a Motel called "riverbank" or similar. I know it was a small, friendly place, by a river.

If you find the shop. Maybe you could see how much a new timer
or even one out of a recon machine would be?

Sorry I could not have been of more help. Geography isn't my strong point!
