The nice shiny new motor... I'm not exactly sure what was wrong with the other one but the guy told me the "circuits" for the start winding were long gone and I'd have to find the same motor for parts... so I just bought a new one.

Perfectionists need not apply Of course none of the slots on the motor lined up with the slots on the base of the washer (to be expected), so in my haste to get this thing running, I had to improvise a little :)

Here's the problem After I removed the on-off cover over the shifter lever, I found the elbow of the thing was comepletely caked with sediment. Simply removed it with a screw driver, bent it out a little to get it over the "leg" and wa-laa!

Some of what was caked onto the shifter lever. Man it was a good feeling to turn this thing on, slam down the shifter and see 180 degree strokes! And to be able to grab the agitator and have it keep doing it's thing... yay!

Thanks goblue, that would be my 2004 crf250x... racing frame and engine but with niceties like electric start, kickstand, etc... | ||

rickr I don't know yet, maybe because it is my first true vintage find. But it doesn't even have the wringer, and I don't really know if I have the skills and knowledge to do something like that. | ||
