When Paul came over this evening with a new Hoover he picked up for us on his way, I mentioned that a similar model albeit slightly different was in a local charity shops window so before tea I took him down there so that he could decide if we ought to have it when the shop re opened on monday morning.

Well when in the car I took us home a different way than when we came and as we entered the north end of my road we saw a wagon with a brown fascia panelled washer on.

We pulled over and inspected. Not only was there one amazing 80s machine on it but two!

After locating the owner of the wagon he let us have the machines on them.

It has to said that although both slightly grubby and wanting a wipe over they both work as they should and have patched a part in our collection desires.

Heres some pics of the hauls, both of which I suspect have been removed from Kitchens after the owners have had new fitted ones and possibly integrated appiances installed.

Zanussi Washer Dryer... works a treat, much quieter than I remembered my Uncle Steves to be.

Cool finds.
Don't you just love it when this kinda thing happens?
Not one but TWO.

I've said it before, I just love those Euro designs.

Years ago - probably 10 years now - we had a concrete water tank built on site. The couple who made it for us were from the UK and brought their Zanussi washer out with them. I fixed it for them, the motor control circuit board had a fault and I got a part sent out from the UK - replaced a motor speed control chip on the board. The machine was almost identical to the machine here, except it had a slider control for spin speed. They were really pleased to have it fixed as they really liked it. It was very quiet and didn't use much power - it ran fine on my solar power which was only a basic system at the time. Every other front loader I had tried at the time would overload the inverter.

Very nice machine, pity they were never sold here.

Chris.

I love the Servis!
I think is my favourite washer design so far even if it was never exported to Italy (now we have Ardo, the current Servis re-branded for Italy haha, but that's just not the same!)

Update

I have cleaned both machines up this evening - disecting soap dispenser cavities and washing them in the dishwasher.

95 deg washes to clean them out inside (a way to use up the big box of Daz powder Im not really liking)

Both are looking good and as soon as I get the camera off that fella of mine il post some pictures of them now in top condition.
