Looks like that poor "Shredmore" is waiting for that final fate----The "Krusher"is it going to be the rear loader or the sideloader?Kinda sad fate even for a Shredmore.Looks like someone made a last ditch attempt to fix the machine. |

Everyone knows that real Ladies are belt-drive, with rows of mechanically-actuated pushbuttons that make a soul-satisfying "thunk" sound when depressed. Later, so-called "Ladies" with mere dials (or worse yet, touchpad controls) are not fit to wear the name, and the quicker the krusher is applied to their sorry, cost-contained carcasses, the better. |

Oh, the bile! Youse guys is vicious, LOL! Remember kids: 40-50 years from now, the next generation of washer fans will talk about great memories of Shredmores cuh-chunking away in their basements when they were little kids. Why, I'm even willing to bet WCI's will be coveted, as mind-bending as that may seem to us, now. |

Oh what a lovely sight! It's poetic justice that a shredmore washer meets the same fate that most of the clothes met that were washed in it! |

But amongst the uninformed, these were very popular washers and Sears/Hotpoint sold a ton of them (no pun intended). You see these everywhere. |

I liked the note above from Danemodsandy regarding "real" ladies and their characteristic "clunk" of the bottons. I have recently put a lot of work into a 1972 Lady K, some of which involved removing the entire control console from the machine top. I was shocked at how heavy the panel is vs. a 'regular' machine's panel, even of the same maker and era. The console is probably heavier than the entire cabinet and panel of my 1993 DD "shredmore". I know what the sentiment is here regarding the DD machines, and I generally agree, but to me at least they seem better than some of the alternatives available today, and I find they are easier on clothes if not overloaded. I have retired my DD for now in favor of a couple recently refurbed BD machines I have, but I'd still rather use my DD if offered a new GE, a new Frigidaire, etc. There is no comparison though to the wonderful 1960s and 1970s ladies though, that is for sure! |

My parents bought theirs in 1999, and I was happy with it, mostly because it still looked like a Kenmore with it's side opening lid. It was a good performer for 5 years until my parents sold the house and left it behind. Have a good one, James |
