Hello,

I bought the Frigidaire washer pictured below from Greg M last year. This is the same model machine my grandmother purchased new from Potomac Edison in 1965 except hers was white. I finally have the time to take care of any rust or other issues before using it, but am having difficulty removing the top. I have the rollermatic repair master, but that doesn't provide much detail. My second post shows the wiring connector block where I'm encountering trouble. I'm in need of advice/direction on how to disconnect the wire block to remove the washer top.

Thank you,
James

Use a paint scraper

On each top corner in the front there are two spring clips.

Stick a paint scraper between the edges taking care not to scratch the finish and push in on each clip one at a time.

Lift the edge slightly then do the same to the next one.

Then you can lift up on it and the whole top will slide forward about an inch and you'll be able to see how everything moves.

The harness clip has two tabs on each side that you can probably get to release with a very small screwdriver, but be careful as 40+ year old plastic can be very brittle and you don't want to break anything.

I hope this helps you.

Patrick
