Does anyone have any vintage ads for washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges, vacuums, that could be used as wallpapers for my computer?

I'm bored with the wallpaper choices that came with XP and need something different.

Love how the chicks match the machines, the Frigi lady all white, silver, and black; the Duracrest lady all antique copper with her "silver" hair to match the control panel.

I remember that Penny's sold Pencrest, but I forget who made them. Who made Duracrest? That's a beautiful machine.

Can't wait to blow up the Easy and study it. These are wonderful, and thanks for a superb midday treat.

Thanks!

Anyone have any ads for Whirlpool or Kenmore? I'm going to start saving the picture of the day as well.

Duracrest was the May Department Stores Company's private label for white goods. Macy had one as well (SupreMacy), and Allied had one which escapes me right now. Similar situation to any of the smaller tire/auto chains (Western Auto/Gambles/White Stores/OTASCO)...laundry was probably Beam, refrigeration was probably strategically done (Gibson or Admiral or Westinghouse), dishwashers were D&M, cooking probably Roper, possibly Brown, Vesta or Magic Chef.

Lady across the street had a Duracrest gas stove, as I recalled (we lived in St. Louis...Famous-Barr territory)

Just remembered, think Allied's brand was Ambassador.

Here is a Franklin (Gambles - Coronado brand) from about the same time period as the Duracrest, a little earlier actually but you get the Franklin style.

Beam became Franklin that became WCI eventually.

1955 and much more Beam-like (think Speed Queen or early Hotpoint) than the later Franklins.

If you wish to convert Youtubes, and a few other online streams into Windows Media files, the Online.Movavi.com converter is a very handy utility. Any wonder I continually add countless appliance demos and classic commercials into my own computer folders?--Laundry Shark

That Whirlpool ad is my fav. Whirlpool ad of all time. That's the washer (3-speed) jamie got recently and I've seen the dryer at one of the "warehouses" in Maryland. That dryer has the 2-way door--oepns sideways or down.

and with your post, I found out how to quintuple the size of the font so I don't need a magnifier any more. Thank You!!

Bob, I love the ancient Laundress in the post, too! Is it possible..... with time travel....... no, it can not be...... or can it?

Thanks Laundry Shark!

I tried Online.Movavi.com, and converted four of my flv to avi, and it worked perfectly.

(appnut) do you mean the 69 Whirlpool ad? Where veg is sitting in the rocker with the newspaper nattering about
ironing time and increased profits? He still looked pretty
good in 69!

I've never seen such a job lot of Stepford Wives in my life! *LOL*

Oh those glory days of advertising when husbands all over the United States were lead to believe the secret to making Her Indoors happy and fullfilled was a new major appliance. After all there's nothing to enliven the mind numbing routine of housework than a new appliance. Oh and by all means show daughters in these adverts as well, better to aquaint them with their future lot in life.
