I just picked up a set tonight from CL. When I saw what I was getting I was happy to pay $50 even though the dryer was not working. I m sure I can fix it once I dig in. So the washer is SAV5710 Stainless tub 25 Cycle fully loaded model. Upon further inspection, I ve decided its very cheap. So was this a Newton made or a Herrin made unit? The serial numbers end in CV. This just does not seem like Maytag quality. Anyone have any insite? RCD?

I used a SAV515DEWW (I think) "Legacy Series" and it was a horrible piece of junk. I believe that the SAV series is the Amana design (as opposed to the Norge design) hence the nickname of an "Amanatag." Re-list it and get one that starts with LA and says "Dependable Care".

Sorry to bear bad news,
Dave

The SAV's are famous for center seal/bearing issues. The upper trans housing wasn't milled right and caused the seal to leak and the bearings (tub and milkstool) to crap out. Fixing it can inspire ill feelings even for those who know how. These were made in the Speed Queen's Searcy plant which is now a smoking hole. Best advice is to put as much distance inbetween these and yourself as possible...

RCD

That washer, and about twenty dozen other things, caused the demise of Maytag as we knew it.

tub alignment question

Thank you for the info, the matching dryer, I figured out, with your help, that it is an Amana design, similar to one I ve had before. I think it has a belt issue, which I can fix.
The washer works fine except for some noise when it spins. My question on the washer is, the tub leans forward. Is there anyway to get this to line up?
