for 1958 Philco Washer, there is the color ad that you're refering to with the lady swimming underwater and the same control panel in the ad that Mark is offering. What a beautiful machine. Best wishes, Mark.

This a 1959 Model, it's the first year Philco came out with it's High-Frequency wash action. You can find tv and magazine ads from the autumn of the previous year for many of the next years models. They made three models of this very first design, this one picture above is the TOL model. Mike this machine solid tub washer, so its cycle is slightly different than the later perf tub machines. During the first spin it spins the water over the top of the tub for 1 min, spray rinses for 1 min and then spins for 5 before a 2 minute coast period. |

Was a "Repair-Master" ever made for these critters? I don't recall seeing one. What were the pumps like? SQish? |

Hi Steve, yeah there is one for this machine, it covers both the early design and the later design. The pumps were very specialized with a big rubber boot to act as a reservoir for the water level switch. If you look at our consumer article library here at aw.org, you will find the 1959 issue of Con Rpts where you can see how they did like this machine. I've had two of the machines but the middle-of-the-line model, then I found the exact same machine with its matching dryer both in amazing mint condition, I was very lucky. Below is a link to restoration of the first one... CLICK HERE TO GO TO unimatic1140's LINK |

applying your legendary wizardry? They came that way. Or am I misreading, too!!! Thank you, Robert, for such essential information. You saw clearly that I fell in love with Jimmy's Philco, so I guess it's got to be a later model like his for me. Fellow Philco Seekers: We are all friends in this forum, and I think it would be very exciting and inspiring to know who's bidding. I took the risk and so can you. If it backfires, it will have been my fault, and I'll own up. Right now, I'm out of the game because 3 grand is beyond my current fiduciaries;'D MARK.... I wish you an ocean of good luck in your new home, and I can't wait to see it. OH THOSE WINDOWS!!! |
