I think this was the last of the "collapsos"

calypsos were a failure

Yeah, the Calypso was one of the worst failures since the Edsel.

second post

Sorry for the double post-I had trouble getting the first one to post due to a technical glitch.

That's actually kinda cool looking. I love my Calypso.

That control panel reminds me of the Kenmore Oasis.

I only $60 for mine, it was suds-locked.

And just as reminder...

Thanks to Daddoes, let's watch a Calypso doing it's thing.
Noisy devil, isn't it with that very bouncy wash action?

That picture was the last model sold, after it's cosmetic make-over.

I don't know, mine is going on 8 years old...and it hasn't "failed" yet. Just have to know how to use it, which most people certainly did not know how to do. It also cleans better than any other washer I've owned, including my beloved Frigidaire Gallery front loader (loved that washer!). To each his own, but I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. Easy machine to repair, good capacity and never an out of balance problem. Very efficient, but still uses a respectable amount of water to clean. It's actually a very quiet machine...I can only hear the final high speed spin, which can be a bit raucous for the last 4 - 5 minutes.

I love my Collapse-O! It does a great job of cleaning and will wash bulky items well.

Steve -that's a good point....it washes bulky items, even single pillows, single rugs, comforters, etc. very well...and never goes off balance. Can't do that in any front loader. It's really a very versatile machine. I wish you could control the spin speeds on the different cycles though...that would be helpful sometimes.
