I know that by the time perforated-tub machines really started becoming popular, the inner and outer tubs were suspended as one unit (Maytag, Westinghouse, Frigidaire 1-18...), but were there any solid-tub machines utilizing the Maytag-style suspension, and perforated-tub machines besides GE/Hotpoint suspending the inner tub only?
Also, how many manufacturers of early and late automatic washers used pull on/push off timers, and who used push on/pull off? I ask this because my 1968 Kenmore has the push on/pull off timer; I thought Whirlpool/Kenmore timers were pull-to-start...what was the latest year that anyone remembers this type of timer being used? I know I saw the pull-to-start on a Skinni-Mini, which leads me to believe that Frigidaire switched in or around 1970.

Frigidaire probably switched around 1970 when the 1-18 came out. My 1960 Frigidaire is push on-pull off, as are older Sears/Whirlpool machines, and I'm not sure who else.
I do know that at some point it became law that all machines had to have the push off-pull on style, as it was reasoned that in an emergency your first reflex would be to push the knob in, but I'm not sure what year that was. I believe Sears switched when they went to the ugly duckling blackface machines.
