A classic Whirlpool with a Kenmore-type side-opening lid. How cool is that!!!

All Aussie belt-drive Whirlpools have a side opening lid.

That looks like a great machine, I've never seen one with that control panel.

Yes I know I'm the closest to Melbourne, but don't all look at me I have a full house. (another shed on the drawing board but it's a while away yet.)...feeling the pressure!!!

Chris.

Let me tell you, ..........Marjorie my dear

For every year here in the USA, yes we from the land down under had a similar model. Check out thread #18396, Whirlpool washer with suds saver. The model for sale was the TOL of the models available in Australia at the time the one for sale in the USA being the BOL. 24 inches wide to boot. Go for it, someone needs to get a piece of "australian" heritage. Remember, it was "Malleys" who carried the "Whirlpool" name. It has to be saved.......

Well, someone else is going to have to get it. I already have this Malleys Whirlpool 1060 and no real space for another one...at the moment.

Cheers
Leon

That tub on that Whirlpool is quite a rare to see!
5 lines of drain holes is unheard of, the first I've ever seen in a standard washer.

Why the f**k is it that Whirlpools from every other country besides the US rock? What gives? Never wanted a whirlpool(having grown up with them, used them and finding them wanting) until I discovered this site and all the wonderful international models that have been posted.

And furthermore, why is it that US Whirlpools were all generally a big fat clunky 29 inches wide whereas most of the foreign 'pools" seem to be a nice svelt 25 inches wide. HUH? What gives?? (Sorry if I'm a little over the top here, but I'm just sick and tired of that Palin woman).

Bajaespuma,

Probably because in other countries (like Australia) Whirlpool wasn't making its top machines for Kenmore.
