Just noticed that NordMende has been relaunched as a domestic appliance brand in Ireland. I am not sure which re-badge manufacturers they are using, perhaps someone might be able to identify them?

They're doing washers, dryers, dishwasher, vacuums, cooking appliances and audiovisual like LCD tvs, etc

Some STRANGE dryers in particular with controls on the doors.

Their tv promos

They're sponsoring mid-week movies on RTE 1 (a national tv network in Ireland)
Promo videos are below, including a few for laundry / dishwashers.

Interesting.

Pretty cool dryers.

Shame there is no washer to match!

The site wont load for me on either of the laptops in the house, or on either Mozilla or IE.

Could someone please post some pics of the machines, so I could have a look?

Thanks
Dan

Hi MRX

Hard to believe this brand is back - do you remember it as a low budget AV brand in the 70s and 80s? I remember it being called "no-mend-me" by a dealer back home - the first of the disposable brands!

Seems like KAL are taking over the appliance world in Ireland...

I wouldn't go as far as saying that KAL are taking over the appliance market here, far from it. I don't think that Nordmende will be all that much of a big impact other than as a budget brand once again.

The market here is strongly very heavily dominated by Electrolux (via its 3 main brands), BSH (mostly through Bosch) and the Indesit Company mostly through Hotpoint. Whirlpool would also have a fairly big chunk of the market.

There's also been a very strong market for some of the higher end brands like Miele, NEFF, SMEG, De Dietrich etc ... although with the credit crunch, I would suspect that some of these brands might see a decline in sales particularly as there are far fewer new homes in construction and people might put off updating their kitchens and laundry rooms for a while. I don't think it's going to be a particularly good year for appliance sales.

I'd say Nordmende will just occupy a slightly higher end position than other private label attempts like Powerpoint, but it'll still be stuck in there with Beko, Candy, cheap end Indesits, Haier etc ... i.e. the cheap and relatively unheard of...

Hi MRX

Of course you're right on the button - I guess KAL are effectively big dealers of some of the posh brands - interesting diversion though into a whole new brand - it will be interesting to see how it pans out. Have they appeared in the shops yet? I'm over in October and will have to take a look!
