Jim (Fridgiman) was contacted recently by a vendor (who just recently posted on here) that he had a supply of old parts. So Jim generously invited me to accompany him to Aliquippa PA for the hunt........to Michaels Appliance 345 Franklin Ave, Aliquippa PA 15001-3753 phone contact: Mark @ 724-378-7002

It had LOTS and LOTS of mostly Frigidaire parts: washer/dryer/dishwasher/range/refrigerator with a smattering of Tappan, Maytag,Easy and Philco Bendix here and there.....we had a BLAST and got LOTS of great parts:!!!!!!!

One of the first things we found was this fabulous FRIGIDAIRE lighted sign........

Also some of our first finds were repair manuals and literature and HOOVER items. I picked up the HOOVER stuff for my good friend and HOOVER collector Tom Anderson of N. Canton Ohio and former memeber of the VCCA

There still are a ton of parts in this place; mostly all new in the box. Two of the items I bought were a brand new 1-18 washer Top, and a brand new 1-18 dryer backing plenum, complete with new felt and new rollers.....

More parts........

Just about everything at Michaels Appliance is vintage......

The man in charge of the parts is named Mark, and a very nice person to talk and deal with. This is just one of many timers we bought and there are dozens of them left there.......this is for a 1-18. Mark has most of the items inventoried by part numbers.........and also uses a vintage Frigidaire Parts Book as a reference.......

Mark also has a great supply of washer motors and a couple of dishwasher motors too. They are BRAND NEW IN THE BOX, something which I thought I would never see. I bought one for my 1966 Custom Imperial RollerMatic washer........

Be Still My Heart.......its BRAND NEW, and comes WITH the tranny mount !!!

Post# 311758 , Reply# 15   10/27/2008 at 13:08 (5,631 days old) by filterflo (Chicago Area)

Also there are some 1-18 motors. Jim and I each bought one. The pulleys on these can be a problem, as they are rubber mounted and tend to break at the rubber mount with age........so now I have a spare.......

More literature and repair manuals..........These are the condensed versions of the Frigidaire Tech Talks. The are a gold mine of a find. Service tips, parts views, wiring diagrams.......and all from the 50's and 60's..........

Congrats, Jimmy - looks like you have enough parts there to keep you busy for a while!! The Frigidaire signs are cool, too; nice accent piece for a collection room.

Mark brought this tool out from a long forgotten tool drawer. I flipped when I saw it.........its worth its weight in GOLD when you need one............This is the tool used to INSTALL a MAYTAG Agitator spline. It appears the tool had never been used.......!

The contact information for this place is:
MICHAELS APPLIANCE
345 Franklin
Aliquippa PA 15001-3753 ph: Mark @ 724-378-7002
He is very nice and the parts are VERY fairly priced. He likes to work on the "make a pile/make and offer" system.

ALSO*** Please note guys:
If you find a parts source like this, its only human nature that you are going to want to go first and get what you want and need or like, before you open it up to others. But when you are done with a parts find like this, be kind of spirit and generous of heart and let others know about it......A memeber of our group found this place almost a year ago, made at least 3 trips there and promised Mark he would let others in our group know about it, and then never said a word to anyone. Shame on you. When you get what you want and are done, let others privy to it too. Give Mark a call or better yet go in person! Its an experience ! Jimmy S.

You guys certainly had a fun afternoon! Brand new parts are always the best, and certainly you are set for sometime to come. The lighted Frigidaire sign is very cool.

I was jamb-packed this weekend; I'll make sure to shoot back Mark an email this afternoon. Thanks again for posting Jimmy!

Nice haul guys, very well done indeed.

Thread should be saved as a pointer to all those who poke into the group wailing and bemoaning they cannot "find" any vintage parts or such. The answer is to get up and look, work some connections and get a scent to follow. Things just don't fall into one's lap.

How amazing and indeed gratifying to see that nearly two decades (more or less)since GM Frigidare units ceased production, there are still stashes out there to be found.

God Bless those old independent appliance dealers and repair persons, who kept "that old stuff" lying around.

L.

Being on the giving end instead of the receiving end, I can say that there is just as much satisfaction in knowing that the old parts and supplies are going to a good home. We all hate to see useful parts end up in the junkyard.

Great Signage

Hi Jimmy,

Wow, what a find. Lots of great NOS parts and I love the Frigidaire Metal Sign. I have hunted places out here in the LA area but have not found one with old parts like this. If I do find one, will let everyone know.
