Hi everyone! I am hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. I got a DE50 and it heats and tumbles, but nothign gets dry. There's not an appreciable air flow coming out the back, and my research says that's likely indicative that the problem is the vent fan? How can I tell? Is there anywhere to download a copy of the manual? I'm fairly handy at fixing things as long as I have some guidance and am not worrying about electrocuting myself!

Thanks in advance - any info is much appreciated!

Quite possibly the belt for the blower is defective.

I HAD WORKED FOR MAYTAG IN THE PAST. THERE IS A NYLON BELT ON THE BACK OF THE DRYER THAT RUNS FROM THE MOTOR PULLEY TO THE BLOWER HOUSING, CANT REMEMBER WHAT THE PART NUMBER WAS. IF YOU CONTACT A MAYTAG DEALER THEY STILL MAY HAVE THE BELT IN STOCK.

I had a problem with my dryer and it was an obstucted vent pipe to the outside. This is more common than you would think, the machine has to breathe. Try drying without the vent pipe attached(since it is electric, no CO danger) and see if it works. If it does, you got a clog in the vent going outside.
